Today the Mississippi House of Representatives followed suit with their Senate counterparts and passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 596 by a vote of 69-49. The bill also brought its fair share of controversy among party lines.
The amendment calls for a Convention of States to approve amendments that would restrict the fiscal restraints of the federal government, effectively limiting their power.
The House debated the bill for over an hour, offering several amendments that were not accepted among members before passing, mostly on a party line vote. The Senate originally passed the bill last Thursday, by a vote of 32-17.

OK, it says that it was passed with a ‘party line’ vote, but nowhere in the article does it say which party voted for what?

In today's climate, not a good idea, IMHO.
Even if things go over without a hitch, I'd like to know how more words on parchment will tame the beast. They ignore all of the words meant to contain it now. Fewer words and more hangings might turn the tide while everything else falls flat. It would be tough to ignore getting ones neck stretched for your malfeasance and treachery.
A convention of the states would be hijacked by STOMP ON Soros and the Left so fast your head their buttholes would swim implode.
Where is FReepers stand on this? I’d love to see this, but liberals might hijack it and get rid of free speech, gun rights and the Electoral College...
And that BS, folks, in a nutshell is why Constitutional Conservatives can't have nice things.
Sounds great in theory but I think the deep state swamp and the globalist machine would find a way to put a kill shot into the Republic with BS agenda items. These are not the great men of our founding. I don’t trust most Republicans and any Democrats involved in this have a Socialist and Soros agenda.
Gee, today’s politicians rewriting the Constitution. Wonderful idea. What could possibly go wrong?
> “ but liberals might hijack it and get rid of free speech, gun rights and the Electoral College.”
It’s rather obvious you don’t know the Constitution. Don’t take it personally as there are many that are ignorant.
So rather than have someone just blurt out the correct answer to why liberals are screwed via Article V, let’s see if you can demonstrate learning by answering a couple of key questions.
1. How many legislative chambers of how many states must there be to propose an amendment to the US Constitution? Conversely, how many legislative chambers does it take to BLOCK a proposed Constitutional amendment?
2. Answer the above question with respect to RATIFICATION.
Here are some context clues:
Who controls most of the large cities? Ans. Liberals.
Who controls the States? Ans. Conservatives.
Who controls the Article V process for a convention of states? Ans. States.
Advice:
First, take a deep breath, relax, and thank the Founders for an awesome design of a Republic,
Second, get yourself to the range and get trained on firearms.
Have a nice conservative day.
I hear this from the Nervous Nellies out there convinced that this is a way to abolish the 2nd amendment, and worse.
If that happened, then the WILL OF THE PEOPLE will be to choose tyranny, and relying on a faded piece of paper to stop it is about as stupid a forlorn hope as hoping that aliens will swoop in on flying saucers and spirit away the Congress to save us.
This is THE PEOPLE taking back their rightful power, and if THE PEOPLE are not doing so because they want liberty, then there is absolutely no hope anyway.
THIS IS CONSTITUTIONAL. The founders were smarter than you and gave this as a back door in the event of a crisis. Your very description of the times is a description of the crisis they envisioned.
It is monstrous stupidity not to take that remedy out of fear.
A CotS would tear this country asunder. It would probably end up as 3 or 4 countries.
The good news is by the time enough states sign on CW2 will have happened and it will be moot.
And if what you say is true then we are not risking anything.
Gee, my neighbor who serves as a state legislator and who knows we would chase him down and rip him a new one if he went against us is thankfully for his sake a solid conservative.
How awesome is that?
Best possible outcome. Let the "socias" have their own country.
That’s must be some powerful peyote you be smoking there ace.
THE WORLD’S GONNA END!
WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!

Gee, it’s amazing how certain amebi ignorami think DC got any say in an Article V convention of states.
I agree that a convention would be commandeered by the left by lies, manipulation and terrorist tactics. And the media would report it as pure democracy in action. Its way too risky.
