WASHINGTON/CARACAS (Reuters) - The United States on Monday accused Russia of reckless escalation of the situation in Venezuela by deploying military planes and personnel to the crisis-stricken South American nation that Washington has hit with crippling sanctions.
The Russian planes and military personnel arrived outside the Venezuelan capital Caracas on Saturday, according to local media reports, two months after the Trump administration disavowed President Nicolas Maduro.
Washington has recognised opposition leader Juan Guaido as the countrys legitimate president and demands that Maduro leave power, which Russia has described as a U.S.-backed coup against the socialist government.

Russia evidently likes what Maduro has done to Venezuela. What kind of sickness....
I guess they need another round of ass kicking like we gave them in Syria. We killed more Russian troops in an hour than we did our entire nations history combined.

Russia has mining agreements with Venezuela. I would not expect them to just walk away from the money they invested because the US says so.
I believe they could have agreed to walk away but state dept insists that Russian investments are ‘dirty money’ and are to be nationalized. And you are wondering why foreigners were laughing at speeches of American values by John McCain and alikes. It is now known as so-called ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’ internationally and not only in ‘pariah’ states. Most of Europe and China think accordingly.
Reuters? where did there information come from, all they said was the United States?
Venezuela is a major distraction from the real threat to the US which is the Deep State crowd that went after Trump.
Either the US has to get people with the guts to go after the whole illegal conspiracy to deny Trump the Presidency or it's an admission that we have two systems of Justice, one for the Nobles and one for the serfs.
Democrats and the Deep State crowd won't care about admitting that there are two systems of Justice as long as their own butts are saved but if that happens, things in this country are going move onto the thin ice we as a nation were on in the year prior to Fort Sumter.
Screw Venezuela, it's another case of, "Look, Russia !!" being used to keep the corrupt bastards in the DC bubble from ever being thrown out and paying for their crimes.
You'd think that several years of, "Russia, Russia, Russia" being shoved down peoples throats when there was absolutely no evidence of Russian involvement in anything related to the elections would be enough but apparently a lot of people are gullible enough to keep swallowing whatever bait the DC bubble tosses out.
Bottom line, Russia can't afford to keep anyone but themselves afloat even if they wanted to. They'll try and salvage what they can of their investments just like US corporations did with the cooperation of the US government.
Other than that, China is the only country that can afford to bankroll anyone else who is in dire straits and so far they haven't stepped up and shoveled the sort of cash into Venezuela that it would take to salvage much of anything.
Unless and until China pours in several hundred billions of dollars, what anyone else does doesn't make a lot of difference as anything other than a distraction from massive corruption in the US DC bubble and our own US Southern border.
I am most suspect of McCain's values. Captian McCain was a brave warrior but unfortunately a piss poor pilot by naval standards. Anyone that can land a jet on a carrier at night is a good pilot. That alone does not make him a superior naval pilot. He acquitted himself with honor in captivity though many say no. The North Vietnamese broke him as they did with almost all the pilots. Due to the fact that McCain's father was the commander of CINPAC his son was singled out for particularly brutal torture. His father was the commander that launched Naval Aircraft against North Vietnam including the aircraft piloted by his son John. Captain McCain is a man to be honored.
Senator McCain is a man to be held in total contempt! As a Senator the words of description should be perfidy, arrogance, and vicious ego.
ps The Navy should have never put John McCain in battle against North Vietnam as he was a very high value captive as the son of the CINPAC commander.
Well stated

I think America still maintains a very intimate relationship with Qatar, the sponsor of muslim brotherhood and Al Jazerra.
FRussia
I don’t think 100 men are a game changer. On the other hand it is hard to explain the Russians why do US need to have troops in Estonia 300 yards from their border but they can’t have theirs in Venezuela which is not 300 yards from US.
There's oil in them there swamps.
The swamp doesn’t agree.
The United States typically delivers humanitarian aid to foreign countries using military troops and transports.
How is this any different?
No difference actually.
The first thought that crossed my mind was that the Russians may have been sent there as an escort, to get Maduro out of the country before he gets the Mussolini treatment.
This would not be a free service, either, as Maduro has shipped Venezuela’s gold out of the country.
We can hope.
It’s a good thing. There is nothing that hurts a dictator more than the sight of foreign troops in the country.
Putin knows he is not a player. He is there trying to collect the money Venezuela owes him
