housands of candles will be lit all over Estonia on Monday to commemorate the tens of thousands of victims of the 1949 March Deportation. Between 25-28 March, more than 22,000 people in Estonia alone were forced from their homes and deported east, many to never return.
70 years ago, four days of deportations of local civilians from throughout the Soviet-occupied Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania began on 25 March in the meticulously organised Operation Priboi ("Coastal Surf").
Over the course of the operation, more than 22,000 people from Estonia, and a total of more than 90,000 people across the Baltics, were forcibly removed from their homes and deported to Siberia. Over 70% of those deported were women and children under the age of 16.
Of those that survived, the first of the deportees were allowed to return in 1958; the last were freed only in 1965. Thousands, however, never made it back.
The European Court of Human Rights has recognised the March Deportation as constituting a crime against humanity.
The anniversary of the mass deportation will be commemorated on Monday with special events, candles, funeral wreaths, speeches, and prayers of remembrance throughout Estonia and in Estonian communities abroad.
The only difference was the sense of urgency with which the Nazi’s operated. The Commies did everything the Nazi’s did including killing jews. They just took their time doing it.
The Soviets also hushed their atrocities up, while the Nazis filmed theirs’.
Find a pretty blond Estonian lady and ask her to say 12 months in Estonian
And what was one of the things that the Soviets ensured before doing this? Making sure that that populace was disarmed.
Of course the Soviets were doing the same in the Baltics and occupied Poland starting in 1939, before Operation Barbarossa.

An Estonian movie about the Nazi Estonian conscripts and the Red Army Estonian conscripts having to fight Nazis and Commies and each other. I actually watched half of it last night, weird about the stuff ones sees on FR.
Freegards
The US, Poland and many NATO states are trying to fend off the Russian devil. Is it any surprise Frau Merkel has no interest in doing so?
Yes my step father’s mother and sister were sent abroad after the Communists seized their parent’s brewery in Estonia.
The worst part was that France & Britain declared war on Germany for invading 1/2 of Poland while ignoring the Soviet invasion (and murders) in the eastern half.
When Stalin kept Poland at the end of the war, Churchill realized Britain had lost all those lives for nothing. France, for the insults they endure, cut their losses.
The lib left had a lot invested in keeping the reality of Stalin's empire hidden. After JS died and the Cold War cooled off a bit there was hardly any mention of Katyn Massacre or the genocide famine or the mass executions of the Great Purge (the Germans were led to a site with over 100K victims near Minsk) .
The Holocaust was tactically used by libs to blot out any close look at the Stalin mass murders, or those of Chairman Mao. The libs partly did this to cover up for the Soviets because they really liked the ‘Soviet Experiment’ and wanted to shield it from bad publicity and secondly the libs had pushed the alliance of convenience with Stalin as some transcendental and near religious artifact and used it to carefully craft the bogus lib version of WW2 as a veritable holy war. Couldn't go around exposing the leader of the USSR as a bigger mass murderer than Hitler now could we?
If they really wanted to help they would have invaded Germany on 3rd September - there were next to no German troops on the western front and the Anglo-French troops would be able to walk nearly half-way to Berlin. This would have eased off pressure on Poland (who fought against overwhelming odds for a whole month)
Churchill and Roosevelt sold off Poland to the Soviets at Yalta in 1943. It wasn't a shock.
Britain and France sold their populations on the idea that the war was to defend Poland, and after losing so many people (and their grip on their colonies) they had to admit it had all been for nothing. Poles who escaped fought for the Allies for years with the intention of reclaiming their independent country, and it never materialized. A shameful chapter in the history of the “Western democracies”...
Churchill and Roosevelt sold Poland to the Soviets in 1939 when they didn’t declare war on THEM for invading.
