Gavin Newsom to stop death penalty in California, giving reprieves to 737 death row inmates

Gov. Gavin Newsom is putting a moratorium on the death penalty in California, sparing the lives of more than 700 death-row inmates.

Newsom plans to sign an executive order Wednesday morning granting reprieves to all 737 Californians awaiting executions – a quarter of the country’s death row inmates.

His action comes three years after California voters rejected an initiative to end the death penalty, instead passing a measure to speed up executions.

Newsom says the death penalty system has discriminated against mentally ill defendants and people of color. It has not made the state safer and has wasted billions of taxpayer dollars, according to prepared remarks Newsom plans to deliver Wednesday morning when he signs the order.

Newsom is a menace to this country. I have never seen such evil on a stick. He needs to reside on that stick.

Well, pretty much for the last decade, California has been taking almost all of their queues from Massachusetts; we’re just holding the line a tiny bit longer.

>>Scott Peterson who killed his beautiful pregnant wife

1. There is pretty serious doubt that he killed her and 2. What difference does it make what she looked like?

Guys, Dwayne Johnson....

He’s been looking for a way into politics....

This is his IN.

Grey Davis was supposed to be the best Governor in waiting ever...

Dude was gone in a year, because of rolling blackouts, and contract corruption.

Newsom is Grey Davis2, stupid rich liberal, who has never faced a real challenge.

Just wait...once recall petition is approved...

Here come The Rock!

Yep.

Well, pretty much for the last decade, California has been taking almost all of their queues from Massachusetts...

We elected a Republican to the Senate just a few years ago. When was the last time Kalifornia did so? And a larger percentage of Kalifornians voted for ILLary than was the case in Massachusetts. Yes,ours is a state populated largely by filthy, worthless pigs...but,percentage-wise,Kalifornia has us beat filthiness-wise.

“scumbags like Timothy McVeigh”

McVeigh was a witness to what the Feds did at Waco and what he saw was so disturbing that he attacked the people he deemed most responsible.

Being outraged at the murder of so many people over what ended up being a media circus to gin up support for gun control does not make McVeigh a scumbag.

Misguided, yes. Damaged, yes.

Considering that he went to his death like a man and he owned responsibility for his actions I would not call him a scumbag. As awful as he was he was still made of better stuff than almost every Democrat I’ve ever known.

“Misguided, yes. Damaged, yes.”

Reminds me of the joke about the lawyer defending the guy who chopped his wife to bits and stuffing what was left into a suitcase - “What can you blame him for? Sure, he’s a sloppy packer, but...”

Deceiving and being deceived even more.

I’ve often wondered how much sympathy we’ll have for the spiritual opposition in about 1200 years when the Lake of Fire is in full effect & the final death penalty is in place for the children of evil.

They advocate murder for the innocent.
They advocate the releasing of the worst killers society has (in order to repeat it over & over).
They advocate penalizing hard work & dedication.
They advocate “rights” for those who steal, kill, & destroy.

Somebody once said Atheism produces nothing, but takes everything. What political persuasion does that sound like?

Liberals game the system all the time - just like their father of lies does. He games God’s goodness & perfection in an attempt to use it against Him - in the end that tactic will doom in & them in forever.

Proverbs 17:15
Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent—both are detestable to the LORD.

Psalm 94:21
They band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.

Proverbs 24:24
Whoever tells the guilty, “You are innocent”—peoples will curse him, and nations will denounce him;

Proverbs 18:5
Showing partiality to the wicked is not good, nor is depriving the innocent of justice.

These people think that the maximum penalty for any crime should be 14 years. When they can, they will let these murderers back out on the street.

To: I want the USA back

I think the maximum should be 10 years; if it is so awful you have to shut someone away for longer, take them out back and shoot them in the back of the head.

I also think that prisoners should be put to hard labor while they’re in prison; plenty of farm work for them throughout the state, not to mention millions of man hours of brush clearance and tree removal that needs to be done.

Gavin Newsom to stop death penalty in California, giving reprieves to 737 death row inmates

So now there's no death penalty for killing the Governor of California>
