If he can’t excommunicate Cuomo, who can???

Cuomo's eternal fate isn't determined by the church or it's officials or Cuomo's standing in the church or even his excommunication. It is determined by Jesus on what is in Cuomo's heart and his relationship to Him.

But from his obvious behavior and actions, it doesn't appear Cuomo is doing well on that front. He had best repent and believe in Jesus as Lord while he still has the chance because Hell is a long, long time and God is a righteous God and He sets the rules, not some church functionary.

“It has become almost impossible to distinguish satire from reality.”

Yes, it really has. I’ve seen a number of stories that I thought were fake, but they were real.

Cuomo is already excommunicated.
On the other hand, a person can also incur automatic excommunication. A person who is an apostate from the faith, a heretic, or a schismatic (#1364); or one who procures a successful abortion (#1398) is automatically excommunicated. In these cases, the local ordinary or a delegated priest can remit the penalty.

Sure. Change that to doesn’t want to. That would stop the money flowing into catholic charities for refugees.

Cuomo has not committed an offense for which excommunication is the remedy.

But Cuomo has committed an offense which can (and imo, should) result in being forbidden to participate in Communion.

He is giving scandal and he is complicit in the grave offense of supporting abortion.

Are the Catholics all in a race to see who can kill the order the fastest?

I haven’t followed Dolan all that closely, but hasn’t he always pretty much stuck to the Leftist ideology? That’s my impression of him based on the times I’ve seen him take a stand in public.

"He continued, “This is ridiculous. I say to the people too, ‘What are you all looking at daddy here? You better do something!’"..."

Is he telling people to excommunicate Cuomo?

Is he telling people to get rid of the fat balding Irish bishop?

Isn't "daddy" supposed to lead the people down the righteous path? He no longer wants to lead?

If he can't do the correct act, then how can we expect people to know what is right?

Proof that the catholic church needs to be disbanded.

Wouldn’t it have been nice if the esteemed cardinal could have troubled himself to go the March for Life in Washington last month. Maybe he would have been able to meet some real Catholics like Nick Sandmann and the Covington boys.

Cardinal Dolan should sit and watch ‘A Man for All Seasons’ over and over again until he begins to get a little bit of guts. Governor Cuomo should have been excommunicated immediately after he signed that bill. Cardinal Dolan can excommunicate Dolan. He has the power. All he needs is some manliness, the kind that Thomas More exhibited.

Besides, the St. Patty’s Day NY parade is coming up, and he doesn’t want to say anything that will rock that decadent boat.

In defense of Pius XII, remember that Germany, which included German annexed Austria, was about 40% Catholic. Many of Germany's allies, such as Croatia and Hungary, were predominantly Catholic. Also, the Vatican was de facto captive to the Nazis and the Italian fascist regime. Hitler, a nominal Catholic , was not excommunicated, although he was more wicked than Cuomo, et. al. Given his virtual captivity, it is hard to imagine Pius XII doing so. Cardinal Dolan is not so threatened.

Yes, that was my point really. The Pope could have decided to make Hitler a public enemy but the risk was that Hitler would say "you know what, Catholics are bad too now. Round them up". If that sounds extreme, this is Hitler we're talking about. So he worked behind the scenes to move jews and others through the Vatican to safety, something he gets no credit for. Instead people call him Hitler's Pope because they figure somehow he could have ended the holocaust by making a radio broadcast about it. I think that's naive but others are free to disagree.

Now though nobody is at risk if the church leaders speak up. If they believe all their own rhetoric on abortion they should be condemning this spreading horror of delivery room murders from every street corner. Otherwise it looks like all their pro-life stuff was just a bumper sticker slogan used for fund raising. Alas, under Francis I fear it is.

No it’s from Irish Central News. Sadly, it is not a satire. Dolan is morally bankrupt.

A church that can’t take action here, while claiming to be able to deny minor sinners communion with their Lord, deserves a millstone around its collective neck.
