"Fat, balding, Irish bishop" - Cardinal Dolan claims he can't excommunicate NY Governor Cuomo
Irish Central ^ | February 1, 2019 | Michael Dorgan

Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan has declared himself powerless after New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) signed into law a bill that allows abortion up to the day of birth.

While the legislation was applauded by many progressives, it has angered many religious leaders, especially in the Democratic governor's own professed Catholic faith, with many calling on Dolan to excommunicate Cuomo for his "flagrant celebration" of the pro-abortion bill.

Dolan, the current Archbishop of New York dismissed his critics as being on the "far right," and stressed that he personally has little "clout" and is just a "fat, balding, Irish bishop." ...The governor especially angered opponents when he ordered that landmarks in the state, including One World Trade Center, be lit pink in celebration.

The cardinal, head of the Archdiocese of New York serving 2.6 million Catholics, also complained that people are looking to him to do something and called on the lay people themselves to “do something!”

"Don't look at me!" he said. "Look at yourselves!"....

He continued, “This is ridiculous. I say to the people too, ‘What are you all looking at daddy here? You better do something!’"...

"Don’t yell at me! Look at yourselves! You're the only ones that can do it, okay? ” he said toward the end of the discussion.

The full interview is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWsrPpdqSgs. Cardinal Dolan, as usual, blathers on and refuses to act effectively on the new abortion/infanticide law in New York State. He relinquishes his moral authority as a Successor to the Apostles and presents himself as not having much "clout"! On the contrary, excommunication would inform Andrew Cuomo of the great peril his soul is in and invite him to repent and return to the Church. Excommunication would also make clear the Church's teaching that "abortion and infanticide are unspeakable crimes" ("Gaudium et Spes," 51).

A detailed response to Dolan's claims is at https://dorothydayworker.blogspot.com/2019/02/no-surprise-morally-bankrupt-cardinal.html

Perhaps if he could muster a little outrage over this. You know, pretend the murdered babies were illegal aliens or homosexuals, some group he cares deeply about.

I think this is a big reason so many people are leaving the churches, regardless of denomination. They no longer stand for anything or provide any moral leadership.

Maybe the fat balding Irish bishop should step aside.

In the video clip he talks about the "Left," but then instead of talking about the "Right," he talks about the "far Right." To me, that's very telling. The "far Right," apparently, is made up of faithful Catholics. And as far as his "Don't look to me!" crap---what the heck are you a freaking BISHOP for, then? What a disgrace this man is.

If they didn’t excommunicate Dead Ted when he was screwing/raping and killing everything even remotely resembling a female, they’ll excommunicate no one.

Perhaps the church might start with excommunicating a good percentage of the Vatican clergy.

Dolan is getting paid off by the NY Democrat Party. The Catholic Church is just another wing of the RAT Party today.

This dope offers a perfect illustration of why Jesus Christ selected one of his most flawed apostles to be “the rock upon which I will build my Church.” The Church is designed to be led by real men who don’t think twice about drawing a sword and attacking the people who came to arrest their master.

I honestly thought this was a parody article, like Babylon Bee or The Onion. It has become almost impossible to distinguish satire from reality.

Dolan himself should be excommunicated, and if he ever wants to get back in, as part of his penance, he should be made to assist at individual funeral Masses for every single murdered baby, and he should be forced to recite the Ten Commandments of God (including "Thou shalt not kill") at each of them.

And there's most assuredly nobody in Rome who has the authority. But Cuomo The Lesser would be wise to understand that there's a Higher Authority than any mere mortal that you'll find in Rome...or New York.

Too bad we don’t have a Pope like John Paul the 2nd. Dolan would be replaced in a heartbeat. The Catholic Church in the US is leaderless. Murder is now widely accepted. Now they’re killing babies next it will be the elderly......and so it goes.

“We can’t fill the pews as it is. If we piss off the Democrats, they’ll stop steering government funds to our charities, and then how we be able to maintain our beach houses? And without a beach house, where can I take my seminarians?”

It’s ok with Frankie so it’s ok with him. Frankie has more important things on his plate then worrying about millions of murdered babies.
