Yesterday, we bought a new small freezer to replace our 10 year old one before it dies on us.
We got a great deal at Home Depot along with my veteran’s discount. It will be delivered, installed and the old one hauled away on Valentine’s day. My wife joked that it was our gift to each other.
The salesman and I were joking about our respective ages. I was the kid at 80, he had just turned 82.
We know a few guys who are in their 70’s working part time at Home Depot and enjoying it.
He said that both of us could go to work anytime at HD.
My wife laughed said that after my early retirement, she banned me from working at HD, ACE or the local sporting goods shop. She said my purchases would be more than my paychecks at any of those places.
Since, she retired about 5 years ago, she has been offered a job at HD several times. She admits that she would be a bigger spender than me at HD. For Mother’s Day, her BD and Christmas, she asks for HD gift cards or Talbot gift cards. She carries a copy of my DD 214 to get a discount when I am not with her.
Your demographics are true and a big factor in the labor shortage.
Subtract the millions of druggies and alcoholics, who are unreliable for any job.
Subtract the millions, who think that they should not have to work for a living and should be honored that they hate Americans and those working or have worked for a living.
The above is only part of why we have a labor shortage. One that will increase each year as more workers retire or die.
He’s come out against chain migration, and for merit-based migration. He wants immigration reform on that basis.
If the economy is heating up to virtual full employment, you are going to need more immigrants, just not the sort that has been coming in for the past few decades.

I certainly want confirmation here. However, even if this isn’t exactly what Trump said, he won’t stop it when most bIG corporations want cheap labor.
When Trump was running for office he ALWAYS spoke of the large beautiful door in the Wall for LEGAL immigrants. Go back and look at his speeches.
But I do care that 70% of them vote democrat.
If legal immigration keeps going at its current rate it is only a matter of a few years before the democrats will have a monopoly on all federal power.
Even though 70% of LEGAL immigrants ultimately vote for the Democrats?
No matter how you look at this, it gives more voters to the Democrats. The GOP is toast no matter what kind of immigration it supports.
In 1980 there were 226 million people in the United States. There are now 330 million people. The number of non-Hispanic Caucasian people has not increased during that time period. We need a ban on immigration for at least a generation (meaning 25-30 years) to let the newcomers assimilate. There is no question that the character of the country has already been irreversibly altered. The new comers typically have little if any understanding of our way of life and the responsibilities of our political system. They want to turn the USA into Russia, Mexico, Guatemala, Somalia, Cuba, and all the other sh@th@le countries that they have come from. And with the help of this country’s liberal idiots they have been succeeding.
