Artificial intelligence (AI) may be poised to wipe out cervical cancer, after a study showed computer algorithms can detect pre-cancerous lesions far better than trained experts or conventional screening tests. . . . . .
The AI technique, called automated visual evaluation, found precancerous cells with 91 per cent accuracy, according to a report published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. In comparison, a human expert review found 69 per cent of pre-cancers, while conventional laboratory tests such as Pap smears found 71 per cent.
Among women aged 25 to 49, who face the highest risk of cervical cancer, the AI algorithm was even more accurate, finding 97.7 per cent of pre-cancerous cells.

At some point, automated systems will outperform humans at a great many, if not most, tasks.
This should free up human resources to do high level things for high pay.
Depending on the type of AI system, its not a surprise at all. Usually they have the knowledge of multiple experts behind and rules based type systems, or have certain underlying pattern matching neural nets that can detect things an expert may miss.
They’ve been developing Pap smear computer diagnostics since the early 1980s, nearly 40 years. 71% after all that time isn’t too exciting.
Now let’s see if AI can find a cure for the cancer, or any cancer.
And what about those humans who are not capable of doing high level things for high pay?
What we may find ourselves encountering, is an increasing percentage of the human population not being able to do anything that would pay enough to feed them.
Now solve the biggest problem of them all. What do you do with the not-insignificant portion of the population that can’t do high level things?

Now, an AI is near to being able to do the job. Turn on the computer and it goes to work -- without ever being late in the morning, getting mopey about the behavior and defects of her husband, or wanting a raise or more time off.
Sooner than we expect, wide swaths of skilled human employment will be impacted, partly displaced by computer AIs and required to serve, collaborate with, and supervise computer AIs that make human-like judgment calls with consequences in the real world.
That’s why the ptb around the world are coming up with a minimum income. Everyone will get a basic needs payment monthly from govt. Work is optional. People will live as they pretty much do now, staring at screens, playing video games, smoking pot, raging on twitter... very easy to control people.
Human services will become expensive. Want a high status, human butler? big bucks.
Want a human gardener? big bucks.
A person that repairs robots? big bucks.
Plumber? Big bucks.
Where will the big bucks come from? We will be so productive with automated systems that a small amount of human time will be worth a lot of money.
If you are unwilling to work for a few hours a week, you might have a tough time.
The best bet to protect yourself, is to save a bit and invest. Become the owner/stockholder in companies that produce stuff.
