You’re 100% right about voting for Trump. But your second sentence is 100% wrong. President Trump needs allies in all levels of government, most particularly in Congress.
Kobach is awesome - but his true calling is at DHS or as an advisor to Trump (like Stephen Miller) on immigration.

Last time Kobach ran state wide he lost very badly. I think the Kansas GOP is worried about losing the Senate seat the same way if Kobach is the nominee.
And lost badly the last time he ran statewide. I think Kobach has pretty well exhausted his opportunities for elective office in Kansas.
