Back to your question, Germany does not have a military capable of defending their own country against a potential foe such as Russia. Germany is NATO dependent.
I would venture to say that their mutual assistance would consist of the French sharing their white flags with the Germans and the Germans supplying the rifles to tie them to.
Judging from the recent studies of EU countries defense preparedness, a well regulated boy scout troop(old style) could take over BOTH counties.

I agree they can’t match Russia, but then again, they don’t share a border anymore (at least not now...).
It is all about internal enemies. To crush opposition of one EU-state solution pushed by neo-Marxist elites. They are desperate because a wave of counter-revolution is coming.
At this point it isn’t so much about the European mega-state anymore; it is about Europeans tired of watching their countries fill with foreigners, and their elected governments hiding behind the mega-state as the cause of it.
It was very telling when over the past year there were several analyses of the leaders of Western Europe - and how many were childless. There is no future for them personally, so the long-term effects of these policies mean nothing. In fact, they are protected from the immediate effects as well behind their walls...
Immigrants are welcome because they help to undermine national identify and integrity. They aren’t committed to the national states, vote left and they are heavily dependent on social benefits. They have low IQ and lack of perspective to make any progress. Neo-Marxist elite sees them very helpful in process of creation of one European state. Immigration is just a tool, definitely not the goal.
Sure; it is no accident that these immigrants are coming from places with no culture shaped by the Magna Carta, Bill of Rights, Second Amendment, etc. - and it is no accident they are from non-English speaking countries. They are a replacement population, pure and simple, who will subject themselves to government dictates unflinchingly. The government already provides their housing, food, public education; since independence/self-determination failed for most of Latin America and the Caribbean, all of Africa, and some Asian states, those populations want to return to administration by whites - but without any work required.
