I hadn't seen an update to this so here it is. Since an AK was used to protect the home, the lsm will be in cricket mode.

“Who needs 10 bullets to shoot a deeeyuh?”
No one, Mr. Cuomo.
Multiple burglars, on the other hand, require multiple aimed projectiles.

Sounds like drug dealers/users shooting each other since they “knew each other in passing”.

Why would anyone try to break into a home in Texas?
There is a good chance the homeowner has a weapon.
It looks like at least 3 dozen bullets were fired.
The 20-year-old homeowner? Drug money I suspect.

Yeah, I think that there’s a little more to this story than what we’ve got so far.

“The 20-year-old homeowner spoke to KTRK off-camera. The man, who was not identified, said two people broke through his door wearing ski masks and demanded cash.”
20 YEAR OLD. He sounds like a responsible dude.

If the homeowner only had 10 rounds, he’d be dead, not the criminals.

AK-47 - when bad guys absolutely positively need to be destroyed in one burst. One of my favorite pieces, which I always keep at the ready - and loaded with a 75-round drum ... because you never know when the Zombies are gonna attack.

I really admire the guy, not least because at twenty years old, he owns a house and has jewelry.

and loaded with a 75-round drum How reliable is the drum as far as jams and such? Generally the larger the mag, the operation suffers.

Have not had any issues, so far. The thing with a drum mag is to not wind up the spring until necessary - takes several turns. Unlike a 30-round banana mag, if you keep a drum mag wound tight, it will give you problems. Depends on the ammo too. Stay away from “lacquered” ammo. Under constant fire conditions, the lacquer melts, gums up the receiver, and jams the weapon. I use zinc-coated steel cartridges, they work great, and are much cheaper than brass. You can’t reload them, but who the heck wants to reload several thousand rounds of 7.62x39 anyway? It’s an AK, not a Remington or Winchester.

Excellent work under severe disparity of force circumstances. Ambush, heavily outnumbered, probably younger faster stronger attackers.
