A federal worker with diabetes says she has to ration her insulin because she cant afford the medication amid the government shutdown.
When Department of the Interior worker Mallory Lorge who suffers from Type 1 diabetes felt her blood sugar rise last week, she said she was forced to try to ignore it.
I cant afford to go to the ER. I cant afford anything. I just went to bed and hoped Id wake up, Lorge told NBC News.
Lorge, 31, said she has two vials of insulin left in her fridge but shes conserving them as she can no longer afford the $300 copay.
The River Falls, Wisc., woman said shes been going through her possessions to see what she can sell because she hasnt been getting a paycheck as the record-long government shutdown drags on.

Call you Dem representative and tell him/her to fund the wall. Why have a shortage of insulin over an illegal immigrant? Doesn’t make sense.
This can’t happen under Obama Care.
Apply for unemployment. Ask Dr. for samples. Rather poor insurance for a federal employee to have $300 copayObamacare?
Probably. I call BS.
$300 copay? I had no idea insulin was so expensive. seriously? She has no family to help her? Where does the news find these needle in a haystacks stories, but they can’t find 50,000 HRC emails that were less protected than the public library internet?
Call your rep and demand the border be secured as Congress promised in 1986 and again in 2006.

Friday (1/11 - 2 days ago) will be the first missed check for government employees...
Busted
I thought these clowns had obamacare that they love so much. BS obviously. The fact that the idiot is willing to NOT go to the ER for the stupid excuse of $$ sure has her priorities straight..
Not believing it.
At all.
I have FedBlue and its really good insurance, the medication benefit is excellent.
Some of my meds and the meds are very cheap. We use the on-line pharmacy for the expensive stuff ($5000 a month) and co-pay is only $30.
Some of pour meds are less than a dollar.
Yep this sounds like a hoax to me.
Many, I know not all, federal workers have pretty good salaries. But these stories seem to imply that they have virtually no planning skills at all. Their first missed paycheck was what? Friday? And already the stories are being shown about how they are suffering. Yet these are doing the planning for the nationat least in their own minds.
“I cant afford to go to the ER. I cant afford anything. I just went to bed and hoped Id wake up”
Oh, jeeeez. WWIAD?
What would illegal aliens do? If I see anymore of these whoa is me govt employee sob stories, I’m gonna puke.
Those stories are fed to the media mostly by the unions.
My wife has had health insurance through her job with the feds for years and the most her copay has has been was $5 for routine meds.
Think of it as evolution in action.
Boo hoo hoo!
Scum
Hasnt been getting a paycheck
She didnt get one check just the other day. That was the first possible time to have a check in the last weeks. So this is a bit exaggerated.
Planning and responsibilities are raciss now.
Did you miss the memo?
Here’s what you should do if you’re a laid-off government employee without money. Go to your bank, and take out a low-interest personal loan. Since you are a federal worker, your bank will consider you a good risk. So you should be able to get a very good rate.
