Elon Musk and SpaceX's ambitious plans to reach around the moon and all the way to Mars require a big effin' rocket. Now we know what it looks like.
Musk tweeted out an image on Thursday of an assembled early version of the SpaceX Starship, which was once known in polite company as the Big Falcon Rocket.

"Starship test flight rocket just finished assembly at the @SpaceX Texas launch site. This is an actual picture, not a rendering," Musk wrote.
He first teased us in December with an image of the prototype rocket under construction.
The assembled version looks like a stainless-steel Airstream trailer mated with a space shuttle. A person or mannequin in a spacesuit stands nearby to give us a sense of scale. Starship is a monster.

Im curious if the tail fins are sufficient to keep that rather wide fuselage stable in flight. The V2 was narrower in design.
I was gonna say it looks like something from a 1950’s era comic book.
It only takes 2000 hours to charge up.
Unbelievable, I was drawing rockets like that in 1954. They were bad drawings, but...
I like the American flag on that beauty.
I do too, though I think it should be much, MUCH bigger. Thumb our American Ingenuity at the rest of the world and too f'n bad if they don't like it!
Now *this* is the 21st Century!
My first thought, shaped like a bullet.
Maybe some shark teeth like the flying tigers.
Fits the old saying, "number one with a bullet". ;^).
Space Patrol is still on the air on internet stations.
I swear I’ve seen something like that someplace before, now let me think...
Which one of these is real?
I like the American flag on that beauty.
...
The first flag was taped on before it was completely assembled. SpaceX is a very pro-America company.
Musk has said that if he just wanted to make money he would have started another Internet company.
He had an interest in rockets and electric cars since he was a kid.
Tesla has struggled financially, and SpaceX just laid off 10% of their workforce. Launching rockets is a tough business. It's a very small market in terms of customers, and it's been known for awhile that 2019 would have fewer launches.
I think the future is bright for both companies, though.
That proves Musk is a Nazi, just like the bad orange man. /s
Musk got his design from a comic book? Stands to reason. Hollywood gets all of its movie ideas from comic books - nothing new!
Does he realize that having an American Flag on the rocket is now considered a hate crime?
