Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, in a fiery address on Monday, declared New York independent from the federal government.
Invoking the Revolutionary War, the third-term Democratic governor said the state must stand up to what he describes as a federal assault on the states values, while outlining his 20-point agenda for the coming legislative session.
Ladies and gentlemen, this nation is in crisis. The social fabric is fraying and it is nearing its breaking point, he said. We must stand up to this tyranny once again. Not with muskets the way our founders did. But with our voices and our votes and with the power and example of our action here in New York.
His agenda, which includes marijuana legalization, gun control measures, and environmental protections, is New Yorks Declaration of Independence, Cuomo said.
We disconnect from the nationalism, and the racism, and the chaos, and the xenophobia, and the misogyny, and the discrimination, and the dissembling of this Washington administration.
As our forefathers rebelled against England resenting the kings values and abuse, let us announce New Yorks rebellion from the current federal policies, he said.

Some federal laws override state laws. That was true during bammy’s reign as it is now. Did he complain back then?
“America was never that great.” ~Andrew Cuomo
He must be talking about the Russian Revolutionary War that brought them ‘freedom’ under socialism.
AND New York can may the entire United Nations bill.
AND New York can pay the entire United Nations bill.
Oklahoma would welcome him moving here.
Cuomo declares NY independent form federal government. Sounds good to me First off all money to NY should be cut off. This would include the NJ/NY tunnel that Cuomo wants the federal government to pick up 75% of the cost with NY/NY paying 25% NJ/NY can pay 100%. Pull all federal prosecutors and law enforcement, federal banks out of NY. Remember sandy no more monet for that in fact we want a refund. Let Cuomo stand on his own from now on. I can get on board with Cuomo’s move
Yep cut off all fedzilla $
I support Cuomo’s efforts at reducing big government.
It has already been suggested by Rep. Peter King (and others) that Trump tie funding the NY/NJ tunnel project to the Southern Border Wall.
I think it is a grand idea!
Well, it is for DAMN sure that NY will NEVER be great!
Cuomo is following in the footsteps of Kali-Fornia and Illinoise!
Just pull the federal air traffic controllers from JFK for twenty minutes and then see what he says.
I remember that well. President Ford was very poorly treated by the press.
I unfortunately live in New York, have to to care for a sick parent, and believe me, EVERYONE I know hates this guy with a passion. He is an absolute crook, corrupt to the core, and having him arrested would be a dream come true. Nobody believes he won reelection legit and he constantly spews this radical leftist crap. Jail cannot come fast enough for this punk but sadly just about everyone else running this puke hole of a state is corrupt as well.
Increasingly I can’t tell the “real news” from John’s “satires”. I use quotes around “satires” because they’re almost word for word the real news, any more.
I agree with you. Just returned from NYC and find that Mayor Disgraziato and Gov. Coma may have been imbibing on drugs stronger than marijuana. The streets are filthy, infrastructure is something of the past and the Mario Coma bridge traffic is worse than ever before. Meanwhile Coma dreams of other failed Dem actions like cessation from the Union
I am trying my best to convince my better half to vacate Long Island. But, the other half of whats left of my brain, says stay and drive theses Libs crazy!
Federal law is the law of the land and makes your statement meaningless at best.
