Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) rejected President Donald Trump’s call to partially fund the border wall with a simple majority vote on Friday, suggesting not enough Senate Republicans support the measure.

President Trump called on McConnell to use the “nuclear option,” or switch to a simple majority vote in the Senate, to pass the continuing resolution (CR) that would partially fund the border wall...

If the government shuts down, the congress, itself never adjourns, right? We can drag this same crowd back in January to vote again, right?

The wall is like 'Lock Her Up', he didn't mean a word of it, he just wanted the leverage.

If Trump really wanted the wall he would have pushed it in 2017.

#BorderSecurityShutdown is the President’s only option now. And that won’t succeed without something to deal.

I am through if Turdle don’t go nuclear.

I'm no fam of mitch the bitch, but there is no way he has the votes to change the rules. It would be bad optics to push a vote for a rule change and fail by as many as 5 or 10. I think think they should have a vote in the open on the house bill, lets see how they vote. Once it fails, send it to committee.

The hatred of Conservatives is bigger on the Repub side than the Dems.

*************

Evidently so. Its also evident that we need a new party that will actively represent conservative interests. The GOP is useless and is never going to change. There is a deeply ingrained culture of appeasement and weakness embedded in the party’s DNA. They do nothing to deserve our votes.

Let’s not end this year the way it began: Another shutdown over the issue of illegal immigration because the Democrats are unwilling to support common-sense measures. I am proud to vote for the additional border security that the House added to government funding legislation.

.

It’s much more likely that 20 GOP Senators will vote to remove Trump from office than that the Senate will ever fund a wall.

BINGO!

few are as brazen about it as Murkowski

I seem to remember she was one of those who was paid off for the stimulus bill? She almost lost to Joe Miller after that until the Vote Fraud Squad stepped in.

What’s the problem? They don’t have an issue with funding all sorts of other nonsense. Is the Wall going to hurt the economy? The safety of Americans? They’ve voted to fund it before. Silly politicians pandering one day and flip-flopping when under the spotlight. Hmm. Who’s their master?

When an agreement is reached to end the shutdown, this SAME congress will have to vote on it, right? The new one can’t be sworn in until a budget or continuing resolution is agreed to, right?

If the Dems could do it to pass Obamacare why can’t we do it to pass the wall? Obamacare was not a budget bill. It actually unconstitutionally raised taxes.

"Senate shuts the government down, the military will build the wall and take the budget from that."

Noting that Sen. McConnell seems to be ignoring that the Founding States encouraged simple majority votes in Senate by not only guaranteeing one vote per senator, but also designating vice president as tie breaker, please consider the following.

By promoting Senate compliance with constitutional simple majority Senate vote, Trump is probably also trying to make patriots more aware of anti-Trump senators for 2020 campaign purposes.

Also, as with other voter-sensitive legislation, and taking advantage of forgetful voters, more vulnerable two year term limit House members probably pass a voter-popular bill that they would otherwise kill, knowing that more job secure, six year term senators will kill bill for them using Constituton-ignoring 60 supermajority vote.

If such is the case, what a scam!

With the exception of President Trump and a very few members of Congress, there is little difference between our Congress and the old Politburo of the Soviet Union...They are there only to serve themselves...

McConnell is a prime example of the need for terms limits.

Republicans will be the party that finishes off the country as we know it. Quite ironic.

If Trump would call for citizen support on this, There would be millions marching on DC and every state Capital.

THAT boss, sending out the call, would indeed attract millions! ;-)
