Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) rejected President Donald Trump’s call to partially fund the border wall with a simple majority vote on Friday, suggesting not enough Senate Republicans support the measure.

President Trump called on McConnell to use the “nuclear option,” or switch to a simple majority vote in the Senate, to pass the continuing resolution (CR) that would partially fund the border wall...

Long range vision suggests this is a bad idea.

Where is Harry Reid?

Time for his fellow senators to grow a spine and replace him as speaker with someone who will.

Yeah, shuffle the deck chairs on the sinking Titanic. That'll fix her.

Trump delivers a Knock Out then the referees and judges take it away. Time to make some calls and emails... Better yet... Hit them on Twitter, that is in real time and about all it is useful for. In their face and instant public humiliation.

There has GOT TO BE something that Flake, Hatch, and Alexander can be blackmailed for to get them to change their mind.

This is WAR, and at the moment, We the People are losing!

I voted for President Trump to WIN!

No wall money, no government money. Fairly simple concept.

I think we need to call for another amendment to the constitution that allows for recall of congress critters and maybe supreme court justices as well.

I disagree. Mr. Trump is a builder, he builds big things. The wall would be his crowning achievement. I think, if for no other reason than his ego, President Trump wants to build the wall. I also believe he does care about this country and knows that the wall is vital.

Oh, they’ll pay. They’re not going to volunteer it in cash, but they’ll pay. The wall will cost them plenty.

McConnell may or may not have guts, or balls, or a spine - but one thing he doesn’t have is 50 votes for a wall.

I’ll go further and say, GOP opposition to giving Trump a wall is strong, is cast in stone, and isnt going to change.

It’s much more likely that 20 GOP Senators will vote to remove Trump from office than that the Senafe will ever fund a wall.

The nuclear option for the base is end the GOP if they do not deliver on border security. I’ll probably cool off just work to defeat Collins and the Romney’s of the party. But enough of the established bleeping things up. They work for us and we have the power to make them irrelevant if we work hard to do so.

Alexander has said he is against changing rules. It only took one more senator to make the nuke option impossible. At 51-49, it only takes 2. I would bet more with Flake and Sasse at a minimum. I wish McConnell had forces a vote

Not a bad idea but probably would not work for Manchin.
Manchin wants to position himself as a possible Rats Veep choice and maybe even a Rat dark horse for 2020.

It might work for Collins & Murkowski! Of the two Murkowski seems to respond the best to pork. Collins probably does also but few are as brazen about it as Murkowski.
