I heard some saying only 8% of the government is NOT already funded.
I preferred the 25% number, because it was easier to think 25% of the government is NON-ESSENTIAL than only 8% is non-essential.

Rush’s 1:20pm EST or so soliloquy /epiphany on what R’s should do, McConnell, to give encouragement to PDJT was one of the most important cheer-leading things he’s ever done.
PDJT should each hour starting now, Tweet, “where is the pain if the government shuts down, Chuck? Where is it?” They all need to be in the cameras from the senate floor calling them on the carpet.

EGGNOG CREME SAUCE / a NIGELLA CHRISTMAS recipe
The Brits are fond of Christmas Puddings with this as a topping.
But EGGNOG CREME SAUCE would also turn ordinary
chocolate cake into a Christmas delicacy. Or dollop a latte, a hot chocolate;
add a nutmeg sprinkle. Whip in 1-2 tb conf for a sweeter product.
METHOD Elec/whisk/thicken 1 1/2 c h/cream. While still floppy,
whisk in 1/2 c Advocaat eggnog-flavoured liqueur til thick but still soft.
SERVE w/ Christmas pudding..............or whatever.
Rosemary Shrager's Egg Nog / creme anglaise base
CREME whisk smooth 6 yolks, 4 1/2 oz sugar; gradually add 350 ml whole milk heated to a simmer. Return to low heat.
Gently stir side to side w/ wooden spoon to thicken, coats spoon (overheating will curdle); cool. Can do ahead to here.
ASSEMBLY slowly add 250ml h/cream; add dark rum/whiskey to taste. Just before serving, fold in stiff--beaten 4 egg whites.
SERVE w/ a sprinkle of nutmeg.
