Killed in a shootout with police in Strasbourg.
So when authorities were saying yesterday they believed he had left the country, that *might* have been disinformation to get him to relax his guard or make a wrong move, if he was still in Strasbourg the whole time.
Ofc the border with Germany is very close by Strasbourg, so it’s possible he left France yesterday, but it seems most unlikely he would have come back anytime soon. I would guess he was hiding out in Strasbourg and they tried to make him think they were chasing abroad for him and not locally.
In any case, they may well have been going down the list of all their “known extremists” and raiding various places until they found the POS.
IIRC, the police wounded him during the exchange of gunfire - he managed to elude capture. I suspect they had a partial blood trail, which is how they knew someone's shot connected. If this Jihadi had a slow, agonizing death - well, I guess that was Allah's will.

One very obvious thing you notice about this one guy....at age 15, he was routed to some apprentice school situation, and about six months later...he was dropped (he couldn’t handle the class requirements, attendance, etc). From that point on...other than flipping burgers or loading grocery shelves, he had no life ahead of himself.
The French even admit....on the books, he hadn’t worked since 2011. 4.5 years of that, he was in prison (in France and Germany). This guy was simply a born-loser with no future....drug-dealer....robbery was his only accomplishments in the past decade.

The current youth (under 25) unemployment rate in France is 21.5%.
Radical Islam fed on this guys frustration. But it was generously helped by government policies that institutionalize higher unemployment as the cost of employment security for those who do have jobs.
An ex-con of Arab descent doesn't have many options in France. Going out in a blaze of glory for Allah, with a guarantee of a spot in heaven, looks good by comparison.
Of course now he probably realizes that his religious and life choices had a different result from what his false prophet promised.
In the past month, a new book came out in Germany and talked a good bit over educational failures of the ‘migration-class’. The guy went and talked to educators and statistical people.
So what he said via the book is that a fair number of the migration-class kids...simply aren’t at the same level of a German kid. Even by age ten....a lot of them are already a full year behind. Traditionally, if a German kid got behind...the parents would go and pay a tutor ‘company’ and the kid would spend three to five hours a week...progressing to where they should be. These migrant families aren’t doing that.
Imagine the migrant kid then...age 14/15...supposed to be headed to apprentice opportunities, and he’s just not qualified (math skills, thinking, reading comprehension, etc). Some apprentice operations now mandate a entry test and won’t even accept applicants with poor math skills. Same organizations won’t put up with kids who show up late, or play ‘sick’.
Once you get dumped out of an apprentice program...pretty good odds that you are finished and the Job-Center won’t mess around with you or give you a second chance.
I was watching some German welfare reality show this year...maybe revolving around 20-odd Germans (not migrants)....all had five to twenty years of unemployment. The key feature that you came to...ALL of them had failed apprentice program episodes (never getting a certified occupation). There’s a major problem brewing here, but I can’t say how you’d go and fix this.
I think a lot of these migrants in Europe were never raised in a work oriented family and culture? They think that they should never have to work for a living and ultimately will be tossed like the detritus they have grown to be. That, or they will go down in a "blaze of glory" and martyrdom.
