I thought that too, at first.. but, if you think about just being in "Jail"? Ever? That could be a lot of people. Especially, with the near zero tolerance DWI laws. These expand the universe of people across classes.

As they define it, "The report defined immediate family as a parent, child, sibling, current romantic partner or someone else with whom respondent had a child."So I remain skeptical.

I said that I have a nephew who is either in prison or out on probation for drugs. And at "6 degrees of separation", sure, I'm probably 6 degrees of separation (or less) away from Jeffrey Dahmer since I lived in Milwaukee.

But I don't think the numbers work. I agree that waaaaaay too many people are in prison in the US, but studies with bad math aren't the way to fix that.

Might not have happened if she hadn’t had her head down to keep the rain out of her face.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them to be broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against... We’re after power and we mean it... There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

Memphis a woman in prison has started a Toys/letters for Kids with parents behind bars, her child’s father is also behind bars. There is a NEW Cable TV series of Marriages to inmates, some have the couples in both women and men’s prisons.

I find IT VERY OFFENSIVE as I’m the mother of a Murdered child.

My father died in prison.

Trust me, that was a good thing.

True.

Had a client who was in a bar when a fight broke out.

Everyone in the place was arrested and processed.

Due to threat of loss of her professional licence, she had to fly down to the courts for each issue, hire an attorney and to clear her record cost to to the tune of 14K.

When the police walk in, I leave. The law and the legal system are so capricious at this time, one cannot predict with any certainty what will occur.

Horrific system.

Actually, you apply to the BATF for relief. If they deny then you can appeal to a Fed judge.

If you really have balls and pull then you seek a presidential pardon and it all becomes moot.

Saying it is impossible... is a lie.

This gun control act which was initiated as a response to urban riots and black violence
——
This is true. In fact, most gun restrictions were created to prevent blacks from owning guns. Those laws are racist as well as unConstitutional. We agree on that.

While we’re doing actually here

When the GOP had control of Congress in 1994 they stripped the specific funding to the ATF for reinstatement application thereby killing that avenue

And it’s been dead since then and never refunded despite being in the 1968 act and for federal felons or anyone concerned the ATF might not recognize their reinstatement from a particular state

I’ve been paying attention to this a very long time....

No I don’t agree the 1968 GCA was racist anymore than any law is racist that affects folks who proportionately commit more crime

Which blacks do

I would like to see funding reinstated

Fat chance

GOP are all John law and order

Dems hate gun owners

Not much support either side
