Depressing, it can happen to a lot of the rest of the USA in say, the next 10 years. Yes, plenty has been written on Va. already. I hope this trend can be turned back.

Mark Herring will win. You can take that to the bank.

The solution to VA is to downsize the Fed bureaucracy, including civilians in the DOD. the PC police in every agency, entire agencies.

“Our work to reduce gun violence, protect healthcare, and pushback on the Trump Administration has been some of the most important work I’ve ever done, and it’s made Virginians’ lives better in real, tangible ways,”

Yeah, name ONE!.................................................................................................................
I didn’t think so.

They deserve it, if FreeRepublic is representative of Republicans there...where at least one here wouldn’t vote for the Republican in November because he was a RINO...sitting it out ‘on principle’.

Oh well, did your non-vote ‘purify’ the Republican Party there yet?

Reestablish the Judicial Branch of our government. Make it play by the rules as outlined in our Constitution instead of by, and for the convenience of the enemy within, the Deep State. We can then get more conservatively thinking people in our government, and eliminate the fear we hold.

IOW get back the objective referee, and truly return our government to the checks, and balances it was designed.

WA is not contemplating a high cap magazine law right after a lock all your guns up law; if not and they’re stolen they’ll come after you. Can’t even give a gun to a family member.

NRA should relocate for a friendlier location, perhaps Nashville, Tennessee?

The Northern Virginia suburbs, where I live, are chock full of insufferable liberals who drive the direction of the whole state.

Correct. I live in the same area as the author. Its packed full of gubbermint workers.

Herring has already made it explicitly clear he will not enforce any laws that do not fit his commie mind-set. The Communists have had a remarkable success is pro-actively reaching out to the hunting crowd (which is HUGE in rural VA) assuring them that the Dems “are not coming for your hunting rifles.” And the hunters eat it up. At least enough of them to influence elections. Given the explosion of the fed bureaucracy and the accompanying beltway bandits there is no turning back for the Old Dominion. I expect statewide races to settle in at about 58-42 communist, one chamber of the legislature might stay Rep for another decade or so. Our rural county went Rep 2:1, but NoVa is an insoluble cancer electorally.

"We’re slowly becoming Maryland."

That should read: "We’re slowly becoming California" since Maryland is rapidly becoming California East...

Correct name if “Mark Red Herring”. He’s as close to A Stalinist Beria as can be allowed in Virginia, just as Brian Frosch is in Maryland.

You will see a shitload of Soros money coming into his race when he runs. Soros has a project to fund the campaigns of leftists attorneys and State’s Attorney Generals across the country, and he has been successful in helping several of them win or stay in office.

This is not just Northern Virginia. Dave Brat lost his race in a district that includes no part of NOVA. There’s a bigger problem at play here than just DC suburbs and the VA GOP is too stupid to see it.

I am proud to be a landowner and taxpayer many times over in a state that really has abandoned the ideals of limited government. Cops and freeloaders are everywhere. Yes, it’ll get worse... The left controls the schools. But it’s not Maryland yet.

Can anyone name a GOP candidate for VA governor in 2021?
Therein lies the problem. The state GOP seems completely out to lunch on developing viable candidates, a nomination system to put electable candidates on the ballot, and modern get out the vote methods. That reality makes it doubly hard to get anyone to run for state offices for the GOP.

I had given some thought to moving south once I fully retire. More and more I’m thinking about moving to arizona and hanging out with gun jesus from “forgotten weapons”.
