Apple CEO Tim Cook says tech needs to take a moral stand against hate speech

Technology companies must take a moral stand against hate speech, said Apple CEO Tim Cook on Monday during a speech at the Anti-Defamation League.

“I sometimes say that I worry less about computers that think like people and more about people that think like computers, without values or compassion, without concern for consequences,” Cook said, as he accepted the Anti-Defamation League’s first-ever “Courage Against Hate” awardon Monday night, an honor that will be given each year to a business leader who champions equality.

The Apple CEO had a message for anyone trying to push hate, division or violence: “You have no place on our platforms. You have no home,” he said.

Technology companies have faced increasing pressure this year to stop acting as a vehicle for hate speech, and to proactively clean up their platforms. However, action from the tech giants hasn't always been swift or decisive — and Cook admits there is still plenty of work left to do.

Take for example the case of Alex Jones. Apple pulled the InfoWars conspiracy theorist’s podcast from its platform in August, but didn’t remove his InfoWars app until September. Facebook and YouTube suspended Jones in July, but didn’t ban him until August. Twitter didn’t ban InfoWars content until September.

Soon they will be blacklisting Rush Limbaugh, Dennis Prager, etc. Eventually President Trump himself.

Because to the left, “hate, divisiveness, and intolerance” is defined as anything they disapprove of, even if they approved of it ten minutes ago.

I think his message is one of hate. Tim Cook should be banned from Apple’s platform.

It is not so much a matter of hate speech, it is who gets to Define what is hate speech. Tech has indeed taken a stand against what they call hate speech. It’s conservative speech and it’s aggressively prohibited, and acted upon practically immediately. This allows these liberals to once again paint themselves as morally Superior, always on the lookout for hate speech. What they hate is conservative speech, and they have taken their stand and enforce their stand all the time.

Gee, that’s funny.

The law compels businesses all over the country to do business with people they don’t agree with.

Interesting that a guy from Mobile, Alabama who grew up during the Civil Rights era of the 1960s would advocate businesses picking who they want to do business with.

Guess we never knew that Timmy is really just an un-Reconstructed Segregationist.

No it does not. No more than the telephone network needed to block “hate speech.” STFU. You produce instruments of communication. You do not have the right to dictate what people say to each other.

Where this is going is the “high tech” companies are doing what the government wants done, controlling speech.

According to Tim Cook, hate speech is any speech that doesn’t openly agree with his leftist/fascist politics.

Tim Cook is the biggest POS to ever squeeze out of Auburn University.

What a dumb-ass.

“Tech” doesn’t need to take a stance against “Hate Speech”, individuals do.

Furthermore, characterizing speech you don’t agree with as “Hate Speech” is just as stupid, dumb, and destructive as any outspoken racist bigot.
