(Meredith) -- In honor of former President George H.W. Bush's funeral, the U.S. Postal Service says regular mail deliveries will be suspended on Wednesday.

The Postal Service will continue some delivery services in preparation for the holiday season.

"We will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure that our network remains fluid and we do not experience any impacts to our package delivery operations that might negatively affect our customers or business partners during the remainder of our busy holiday season, " the Postal Service said in a statement.

I’m comparing the national day of mourning for a former president with a religious holiday because they are both federally mandated holidays - not because I find them equal in ultimate importance.

I do support holidays; whether private employers want to offer them to their employees is the personal decision of the private employer. They probably wouldn’t be very popular employers, attracting the best workers, if they refused to do so. Even in business, one has to ‘go with the flow’ to succeed.

(I don’t know why you insert the idea that government should ‘subsidize’ any holidays offered by private employers; that’s not a ‘trend’ I’ve heard anything about.)

But, yes, ultimately, I think it’s all good. I’m a pretty easy-going gal, when it comes to very unique events for which unique accommodations can be useful, inspiring, and provocative of thought.

(Did you ever read ‘A Christmas Carol’, by Dickens? It’s a wonderful book...)

Stuff the larger return envelopes to the brim with other junk and send it right back.

Was Kasich’s father really a mailman? Inquiring minds want to know.

Clearly most in private sector can't afford to provide their employees with matching government paid holidays off work. No?

Can government afford to continue paying tens of thousands of government employees for not working because tradition makes you feel good?

Your beef is with Pres. Trump. Pres. Trump is the one who ordered it.

Huh? HW Bush nearly destroyed this nation.

Between his pro abortion attitude, his father’s financing of Planned Parenthood and his son’s continued funding of it for EIGHT straight years... that is a lot of innocent blood shed on the part of the Bushes.

What’s the tally now? 100 million dead American babies?

I’m sure it’s hot in there, George. Sorry you didn’t do the manly and Christian thing and repent publicly.

I’ve worked for private companies, and always had Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Day off.

I’m sure there are essential services - in government or private companies - who have people who have to work on those days. In govt., I believe they are compensated. I would assume that in private companies, they are also compensated in some ways. Otherwise, people would find another employer as soon as they could. Family life and leisure time of individuals is just as important to the national health as the ‘bottom line’ is.

Government has always managed to accommodate the designated national holidays; and it can accommodate the occasional death of a president.

You seem to be arguing for the sake of argument - if your ultimate argument is not to simply do away with all national holidays; and that’s just silly.

And I’m going to bed!

I appreciate your concern and your passion.

I’m not personally a ‘one issue’ citizen/voter.

Oh, so it’s HW Bush’s NWO Globalist views that appeal to you?

Or because he voted for Hillary Clinton?

I appreciate his capable and valiant service - from an extremely young age - in a war that could have wound up with most of the world speaking German.

Where do you get this stuff? I never once suggested or implied that...I was talking about paying postal employees not to deliver the mail, which you clearly support.☺

In honor of former President George H.W. Bush's funeral, the U.S. Postal Service says regular mail deliveries will be suspended on Wednesday.

And very few people will notice the difference!
