I’ve worked for private companies, and always had Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s Day off.

I’m sure there are essential services - in government or private companies - who have people who have to work on those days. In govt., I believe they are compensated. I would assume that in private companies, they are also compensated in some ways. Otherwise, people would find another employer as soon as they could. Family life and leisure time of individuals is just as important to the national health as the ‘bottom line’ is.

Government has always managed to accommodate the designated national holidays; and it can accommodate the occasional death of a president.

You seem to be arguing for the sake of argument - if your ultimate argument is not to simply do away with all national holidays; and that’s just silly.

And I’m going to bed!

Where do you get this stuff? I never once suggested or implied that...I was talking about paying postal employees not to deliver the mail, which you clearly support.☺
