Berlin's economic power creates 'new fear of Germany' across EU
Deutsche Welle ^ | 11.20.2018 | Jan D. Walter, Catherine Martens

“I’m not so much afraid of German power; it’s German inactivity I’m starting to fear,” said Radoslaw Sikorski, then Poland’s foreign minister, while speaking in Berlin in 2011. You would never have heard a sentence like that before 1990, says German historian Andreas Rödder — certainly not coming from Poland.

The national-conservative PiS party is now in power in Poland, and the words coming out of Warsaw are very different these days. But the ambivalent relationship between Germany and its eastern European neighbor, expressed by Sikorski back then, still exists. “There’s a new expectation that Germany will take the lead in Europe,” says Rödder. “At the same time, Germany is confronted by the dilemma that this will revive old fears that Germany wants to assert its supremacy in Europe.”

There is no simple solution. Rödder believes Germany must take on the task, in the EU institutions and also, above all, at nation-state level. And in this he thinks it is more productive if it openly assumes a leading role rather than engaging in back-room politics. […]

“At a time when economic power is more important than military power, Germany is quite simply strongest,” says Rödder. It’s not a situation it can get out of: “And that’s why Germany has to use this strength constructively and strategically in Europe.” …

Gee, what an unfounded fear.

ANYTHING is possible, as we all know from seeing Kindergarten kids changing their sexes. Funny enough I think that’s a German word.

Another war in Europe is not off the table, even if it may be further down the line.

Or it will never happen.

But me thinks that the individual countries are hiding well their still simmering contempt for other countries.

Economic power is not “more important than military power”
The truth is that agricultural production combined with manufacturing is the major source of military power.

Not to worry. Merkel only wants to build an army for the protection of EU.

Don’t worry, they are importing fertile and illiterate third worlders as fast as they can. Soon the collective IQ will be 80, and the only threat to people will be the destruction of things already built, there will be no new super weapons created

Fear the fact that Germany is bringing millions of savages into Europe.

Economic power is more important than military power only so long as you do not face military threats.....like when somebody else provides your defense for you for example.

I’ve got an idea. If Germany doesn’t want to be viewed with suspicion by much of the rest of Europe, how about stop trying to boss other countries around by trying to order them to submit to a flood of military age muslim male invaders so as to take at least some of the pressure off of Germany when it stupidly invited millions of them in a few years ago? In other words, quite trying to be bossy and clean up your own messes for a change instead of trying to dump your problems onto others/freeload off of others.

Over 400,000 Americans died in World War II because Europeans were little wusses who wanted to keep the good times going by pretending Germany wasn't a problem.

We might send nukes next time but we're not going to spill American blood... and by ‘sending nukes’ I don't mean handing them over to cowards - we'll send them in the air...

The invitation to the Mahometans was a deliberate act. Take note that the EU leaders are still not perturbed by it, and their demand for more imperialistic centralized power continues apace.

Putting EU member states in debt traps after 2008 was an exercise of the economic power referred to here.

And the EU’s dream of having its own military is not for defense, but offense. Note that they falsely turn the USA into their Emmanuel Goldstein.

There’s more to it than that. Remember, Germany declared war on the USA in 1941 too; and there were quite a few “wussy” voices on our soil that didn’t want to go to war in Europe until Adolf decided to drag us into it.

Today, such voices are “wussier” still. Note that they are trying their utmost to shout down Trump when he speaks the truth about the EU.

Poland need not worry about Germany too much.

First, Germany has essentially self-castrated itself by importing millions of Turd Worlders and having Leftist government after Leftist government. Hell, they can’t even field 200 tanks, the rest are in such a piss poor state of repair that they can’t use them.

Second, if the Germans get any serious ideas about the old kind of expansion, Russia will make most of Germany look like the ass-end of the Moon in about 20 minutes.
