Witches Now Outnumber Presbyterians in America as Number of Pagans Soar to 1.5 MILLION

The number of self identified witches in America has soared in recent years to 1.5 million. A survey by Pew Research found 0.4% of Americans, between 1 and 1.5 million - identify as Wicca or Pagan, according to Quartz. That means there are now more witches in the US than there are Presbyterians who have around 1.4 million adherents. Experts believe that the explosion in the witch population is due to millennial women’s embracing of new-age spirituality, mindfulness, meditation, and yoga. Wicca, also called Witchcraft or The Craft, is a Pagan religion which emerged in Britain in the early 20th century. Wicca adherents praise nature and nature's gods and goddesses. They practice outside in parks, gardens or fields. They endeavor to achieve self-awakening through dancing, singing, chanting, and with the use of herbs and incense. Despite some depictions, it has no connections with Satanism.

The Wiccan pentacle, a five-pointed star inside a circle, is often confused with symbols of Satanism. In fact, the five points represent the elements of nature - earth, air, fire and water - and the spirit, within the eternal circle of life.

Wicca is recognized as an official religion in the United States.

Uh huh.

Well, well blame CPUSA PCUSA for their far left political advocacy that is against biblical teachings.

I’m not saying practicing any Pagan form of worship is good, or should be explored. Just sad that many churches today seem to be floundering, and in many cases closing their doors.

Witches don’t bother me as much as Climate Change Cultist... That is the biggest growing religion by far and they are fanatical and dogmatic to the point of violence, much like their founding father Al Gore.

Try arguing an opposite point with them and they are like rabid dogs let lose on a piece of meat.

Almost any group is recognized as ‘an official religion in the United States’. It’s NOT an endorsement - it’s a reflection of our founding father’s belief in ‘freedom of religion’...

I’m sure that has plenty to do with it. I also blame many of the churches themselves. As a preacher’s kid (now 54) I remember many of the people in the churches were just fake. It upset and confused me as a child to the point I stopped going as a young adult. Tried to go back to it, but simply couldn’t find a church that actually taught the Bible. Spent 3/4 of the service singing, or having announcements, or “special music” by someone, and then offering (can’t miss that), and if there was time maybe a 15-20 minute sermon with a nice, long story about something. Ya...not worth it.

This is all based on self-reporting on a survey. It is not scientific. Indeed, there is only one proven scientific measuring approach...

Agreed, but it does concern me because eventually there will be so many tax exempt “religions” out there who knows what may happen to the status for churches of traditional religions?

“Witches Now Outnumber Presbyterians in America as Number of Pagans Soar to 1.5 MILLION”

The gap is going to widen as more and more people sicken from the PCUSA leftist antics.

Blame Christian churches that went soft and left starting in the 1960s and 1970s, deciding that people really wanted "who are we to judge" attitude served up with a healthy dose of left wing politics.

People seek to belong to something bigger than they are, to find an organization that can show them the bigger truths. Many churches (evangalicals excepted) threw that out the window and professed that truth is relative, sin is a matter of perspective, etc. Of course people drifted away. 100% predictable. Now the lost souls are seeking something else.

When the earth is worshiped it’s the same as worshiping Satan.

This reminds me of El Rushbo doing his Wiccan Update with Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I put a SSSSSPELL on you!”

That many witches, huh. I’ll bet that most are 200 lb. ranting bull dykes who voted for Bernie Sanders.

Founders: Gerald Gardner (1884-1964), a British civil servant. Americans Raymond and Rosemary Buckland traveled to England in the mid-1960s to be initiated into Gardner’s Goddess religion and brought its practices back to the United States. Modern spokespersons for Wicca today include Margot Adler, Mary Nesnick, Selena Fox, Gavin and Yvonne Frost, Sybil Leek, Miriam Simos (Starhawk), and Doreen Valiente.

I can’t imagine them not being one and the same, at least for the witches

Their inherent belief system revolves around worshiping nature.

Or maybe i’m wrong :) Happened lots of times before.

Now I have to run, i’m in the middle of making a potion to put a hex on my neighbor for not keeping his yard nice.
