Agreed, but it does concern me because eventually there will be so many tax exempt “religions” out there who knows what may happen to the status for churches of traditional religions?
If people won't contribute to a church unless they can ‘take it off their taxes’ the church isn't worth much.
These laws are abused by the wealthy and well-connected to force working class Americans to help pick of the tab for their parties and extravaganzas. Fancy mega-million dollar gathering? Donate crumbs to ‘charity’ and taxpayers pick up must of the bill.
