Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum has referred to the arrivals as “bums” and questioned whether a referendum in the city of 1.6 million is needed to determine whether or not they should be allowed to stay.

“Human rights should be reserved for righteous humans,” Gastelum lamented

Good. About time. Maybe they can turn them back if we don’t allow them in for a couple months.

Most of them will not be allowed in, there is no way they are refugees.

Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum

Just imagine being the mayor of a city in Mexico with a population about twice the size of Boston.
Having to deal with several drug cartels, and coyote groups, and if you favor one over the others you stand a chance of being killed.
What a balancing act he has to perform. - Tom

“I gotta believe there are a lot of guns in Tijuana. Just use them.”

Guns are forbidden to the populace. As we drove by isolated haciendas in the Mexican countryside I asked if they had guns to protect themselves from robbers. My guide explained the penalty for having a gun. I asked, “Suppose somebody broke into their house and they shot him. What would happen?” He said, “If they called the police the police would be much more interested in them and their gun than in the dead robber. They’d be arrested and prosecuted for owning a gun.” Driving down the Baha coast road we passed a house right out of a Bond film with men in black patrolling the roof with guns resembling Mac’s. I asked about that and the guide said, “Most likely a drug lord. Nobody messes with them.”

You are likely right. There are loads of guns. But they are not in the hands of anyone who would have an interest in the “caravan.”

While you are

Makes one wonder what is being
communicated between the US and
Mexico. Tijuana is a hot bed for
murders and drugs. The situation
is definitely going to escalate.
Those running the show are going
to push this to test Trumps
resolve, and the media will blame
Trump for the turmoil.
I’ve heard there UN pukes imbedded
in this invading horde.

...there is no way they are refugees.

Bingo. The UN would agree in that the actors are not "forcibly displaced communities and stateless people". Nor is this well-dressed, well-fed political demonstration entitled to humanitarian aid.

The problem is that just as the U.S. takes a voter's unsupported declaration of citizenship as proof of eligibility to vote in federal elections, the U.S. has been historically unwilling to secure its borders. The statutes in place to protect both are incomplete or ignored.

The next civil war may well turn on rejection by many of conditions caused by fed officials who don't bother to enforce this nation of law's statutes.

Messico is one of the finest examples of nation-wide gun control in the world. Only criminals have guns.

Trump should announce, “No asylum claims until after Christmas.” That will drive the people in Tiajuana nuts. They’ll get rid of the problem for us.

The folks of Tijuana are saying, “Not in MY town!”

People all over the United States are saying much the same thing, but still busloads of immigrants are being sprinkled through municipalities large and small, then “disappear” altogether when it comes time to return for their asylum hearing.

Catch-and-release is a huge FAIL.

“...afraid to return to their homeland, which for the vast majority is Honduras,....”

Every video, article I’ve been reading on the matter exposes their venture as seeking economical advantages by coming to the U.S., NOT the fear of their homeland as stated in this article, therefore I call BS on their request for asylum.

Yes Tijuana is in no position to support this crowd as they don’t have the facilities to support their own. Which in fact seems to be the story here in California as well as there are countless homeless encampments up, and down the State.

There were already over 3,000 names on the book before the caravan arrived and the US only processes 100 claims a day at that location. So it will be at least 30 days before their claims will be seen.

The Tijuana mayor thinks the intruders will live in Tijuana for 6 months minimum.
