Now the old bag is going to sound like a bagpipe when she breathes......play amazing grace for us honey! (Go ahead everyone....I give you permission to imagine the song firing up on a bagpipe and picture Buzzy trying to inhale right now.) 😀

I spent a decade on surgical trauma teams. 3 ribs fractured is the definition of “flail chest”. This ain’t trivial.

How awful. I hope she recovers quickly. Her age and fragility will effect how fast she recovers. I do think it’s time for her to retire from the SCOTUS.

My uncle (a staunch Conservative) used to be Ruth’s caddy back in his younger days.

Although her views were not aligned with his, he spoke very highly of her and said she was a wonderful person.

One of the ways that I know that I am on the correct side of the political spectrum is when I can log on to FR and find other people here who also disagree with RGs viewpoints but are still able to wish her a quick recovery like anyone should to any 85 year old who falls.

I hope she takes this opprotunity to step down and enjoy the time she has left.

This pretty much sticks it in their faces.
As democrats, they have won basically no power to control the executive branch or the senate or the Judiciary. Gotta be frustrating.
I love it!
Who will trump nominate?

Broken ribs, eh? What a coincidence. What goes around comes around. Maybe Rand Paul can give her some pointers on how to deal with all of the pain and agony that’s gonna be coming her way.

I believe it’s “let loose”. God be with her.

I cracked two ribs at work. It is the kind of pain you can’t avoid.

Lots of people that frail usually dont recover from that.

It’s weird how it happens, but they are too old to be operated on, and complications ensue from the injury.

She was a fanatic. Brilliant, but a fanatic. She thought there should be no restrictions whatever on a woman’s choices about sexuality —meaning, that if a twelve-year old wanted to have sex with a 65-year old, it should be legal.

IOW, she made no allowances for a child being a child, and wanted there to be no protections.

She also wanted abortion to get rid of groups of people ‘we don’t want too many of’.

She tried to walk that back, but it can’t be done.
IE, abort those whose disabilities make them “unworthy of life” (according to a German “ethicist” at the start of the 20th century), or perhaps — perhaps — people at the lower rung of the intelligence ladder (???)

She also participated in gay weddings when the issue of same-sex marriage was before the court — for which she should have, but didn’t, recuse herself from the decision.

As noted — a brilliant, but narrowly-focused and imho bigoted fanatic.

It is a moral conundrum.

Yes, Laz. Looks like the end of the road for her. I’ll say a little prayer for her because I’ve had to deal with elderly relatives and it’s a sad sight. But the timing is totally amazing! Trump rules!

-—Although her views were not aligned with his, he spoke very highly of her and said she was a wonderful person-—

Scalia valued her as a friend, and that’s admirable.

I wish her no ill, but I think it’s clear that retirement would benefit her.

broken hips are the worst thing for the elderly, because the subsequent increase in being sedentary puts them into a downward spiral. Being active is the last best way to stave off the reaper when your body is trying to degenerate on you so you don’t want to end up bed-ridden for weeks.

Breaking ribs is bad too though. Very painful. Hard to do anything at first.

Heck, I'm 64 and just had two knee replacements. My wife video-recorded me trying to start walking again ... even I thought it was hilarious. Looked like something out of a stop-action Gumby cartoon ...

You find your humor where you find it and I'll find mine on my own ...
