Florida Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson called Wednesday for a recount in his race for re-election against Republican Gov. Rick Scott.
In a statement from Nelson's office, the longtime incumbent said Scott had prematurely declared victory in the race, which CNN has not yet called. In Florida, an automatic recount is triggered when the final margin is less than .5% and is not triggered by candidate requests. Votes were still being counted Wednesday morning, but Scott's lead was within that margin, according to CNN projections. The initial vote count won't be finalized until Saturday at noon.

Because they are entirely without scruples and will cheat. They lose elections but win recounts.
In principle a recount is fair.
In practice we all know it will be used as an opportunity to cheat enough to change the outcome.

I thought it odd this AM when the lead in a 100% counted race as of 1AM with Nelso losing by 55K became it was now down to 31000.

Scott currently up by 34,537 votes. NYT is projecting him to win (54% probability, which is slim).
