Walking Away from Cognitive Dissonance

The woman who claimed to write an anonymous letter accusing Justice Brett Kavanaugh of raping her in his car has admitted that she lied. Judy Munro-Leighton turned out to be a left-wing activist who admitted that she did it because she was angry. She has never met Justice Kavanaugh.

That’s a pretty clear contradiction to the liberal chorus that women never lie about sexual assault. "Women don’t want to call attention to themselves that way,” they say. “That means they should always be believed,” is their refrain. Munro-Leighton admitted that she did it for the attention.

It’s no wonder that although it was widely discussed on social media, the story was mostly ignored by what Rush Limbaugh calls the “drive-bys," They had already driven-by, and moved on to the next in an endless parade of hysterical narratives designed to smear Republicans for the midterms.

Here’s one they’re driving by now: Ten women in Vermont did a naked photo shoot for a campaign called “Grab Them by the Ballot.” Chelsea Handler recently joined the bandwagon just to add some celebrity gravitas to the cause.

I know we're not supposed to ask, but how does stripping naked with only a ballot to cover your private parts make the case that women are oppressed and Democrats should turn out to vote?

If you do ask, you can expect to be subjected to personal attacks and smears that have an “ist” or an “phobe” at the end. “Racist!” “Sexist!” “Homophobe!” “Xenophobe!” We ought to have a song with those lyrics. We could write it ourselves.

The left regularly incites their base to keep them in a state of such turmoil that they never stop to ask themselves if the contradictory ideas they’re being spoon-fed make any sense.

Why are Democrats so good at tolerating cognitive dissonance? It helps to have an extremely short attention-span and live only in the moment. The Left prides themselves on having no sense of history. That way, they don’t remember that they used to believe the opposite of what they believe now, even if that was last Thursday—and they’ll get all the validation they need from their trendy friends.

That’s one of the reasons Leftists love to tear down monuments to quash whatever history they don’t like. To them, gender is a social construct and so apparently, is history. Basic facts about yourself are mutable and you can choose whatever gender or ethnicity you want. Then, Voila! The second you join the group, you are immutably oppressed. See how that works?

I recently decided to challenge some of this thinking with alumni from Columbia University Graduate School of Social Work, of which I am a member. I posted the Judy Munro-Leighton story on their Facebook page. Without commenting on the piece itself, they screeched, “Troll!” and “Racist!” One poster called my ethics into question, and another said I shouldn’t be allowed near clients.

I admit it. This wasn’t the first time I have posted a fact which they have deemed to be outrageous and incendiary. Their response this time was to block me from the group entirely. We are all too familiar with this brand of liberal compassion and tolerance.

Apparently, they can handle cognitive dissonance when it is self-generated, but not when it comes from someone who informs them of something that doesn’t fit their twistedly dissonant narrative.

How do you point out hypocrisy to those who don’t mind being hypocritical? My solution is to scratch my head and then keep helping as many people as I can to #WalkAway from the crazy-making, constantly contradictory, cognitive dissonance of Liberalism. Call it my own private practice in mental health counseling.

I have always been fascinated with the process that successfully brings people out of cults. Having the courage to ask that very first question is what usually leads to so many others. That first question will reliably bring the retaliation that gets heaped on anyone who dares to think for themselves. In the case of the cult of liberalism, this is what leads to the revelation that they’ve been lied to about all of us as well. At that point, they usually #WalkAway faster.

I may have been blocked from the Columbia's Social Work Alumni page, but take it from me: Walking away from the rage, the violence and the cognitive dissonance of the Left is an essential component of good mental health

To them, gender is a social construct and so apparently, is history.

Even in George Orwell's famous book, 1984, he never intimated the party would claim a person's sex was a social construct. That is something new.

I wondered about that, too. I've got nothing...

The woman will never be prosecuted for this, and that will encourage others to lie too.

She and ford absolutely have to go to jail for their lies, along with their enablers in the democrat party.

I know they won’t. The only revenge I can get is tomorrow around 9 AM when I vote NOT democrat.

Karen Kateline still has issues and problems she needs to work out.

The MOMENT that admission was voiced, Munro-Leighton should have been arrested and charged with inciting a riot (at leat).

The "Grab them by the ballots" meme was a weak minded attempt to somehow connect President Trump to why women should vote democrat.

Didn't Swetnick recently admit to making up her stuff for attention? IIRC, DOJ is now looking into perjury charges. Didn't Ramirez also recant early on? Now, the Congressional investigation finds NO evidence of Ford's accusation, which her testimony already showed there was none. "I don't know when, where, or who was there. Oh right, Mark was there.", which he denied.

They should all be accountable.

I would say zero, and if any these news outlets reported it they most likely gave it 15 seconds at the most.

That's like someone with developmental disabilities joining a think tank to give it some intellectual gravitas.

the Republican majority and released over the weekend, contains a number of key revelations.

Among them: the report summarizes a statement from a man who believes he may have been involved in an encounter with Christine Blasey Ford around the time of her claim of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh. Some of this emerged during the Supreme Court confirmation process, but the report provides more details.

Ford was the key witness against Kavanaugh. In detail, she said Kavanaugh tried to remove her clothing during a high school party, but had trouble because she was wearing a bathing suit underneath them. She said she ran off when Kavanaugh friend Mark Judge jumped on top of them and they fell off the bed. Kavanaugh denied the accusation and, on Oct. 6, the Senate confirmed him to the Supreme Court.

The man who claims he may have had the encounter with Ford was one of 40 people committee investigators interviewed as part of its probe into the sexual allegations against Kavanaugh, which was done alongside the FBI background check that was compiled in a matter of days.

‘NO EVIDENCE’ TO BACK KAVANAUGH ACCUSERS’ CLAIMS, SENATE PANEL’S REPORT ON FBI PROBE FINDS

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, in releasing the report, said there “was no credible evidence to support the allegations against” Kavanaugh.

Ford testified she was 100 percent positive Kavanaugh assaulted her, rejecting the notion of a case of mistaken identity.

But the report gave details from the purported witness claiming exactly that scenario. The man told the investigators that when he was a 19-year-old college student, he had visited Washington over spring break and kissed a girl he believes was Kavanaugh’s accuser.

“He said that the kiss happened in the bedroom of a house which was about a 15-to-20 minute walk from the Van Ness Metro, that Dr. Ford was wearing a swimsuit under her clothing, and that the kissing ended when a friend jumped on them as a joke,” the report said.

The Van Ness Metro is in Northwest D.C. His name was redacted in the report but investigators interviewed him the day before Ford testified Sept 27.

The report also summarizes statements from another man who said that after graduating high school in Hampton, Virginia, in 1982 he made several trips to D.C. that summer.

During one trip, he attended a house party where he kissed and made out with a woman he met who he believes could have been Ford, the report says.

The man “said that based on old photographs of Justice Kavanaugh he has seen on the news, he believes the two of them share a similar appearance,” the report says. His name was also redacted.
Sen. Grassley: Kavanaugh process has been fair and thoroughVideo

“Although each individual described details that in some respects seemed to fit Dr. Ford’s allegations against Justice Kavanaugh, both men described consensual encounters,” the report concludes.

Ford’s attorney did not respond immediately to an email seeking comment.

The report also contains these other disclosures:

Witness Tampering?

Committee investigators are in the process of trying to determine if Ford friend Monica McLean, a former FBI employee, tampered with a witness.

“Several media outlets have reported that the FBI’s supplemental report indicated that Leland Keyser, a friend of Dr. Ford, felt pressure from Dr. Ford’s allies to revisit her initial statement to the Committee that she did not know Justice Kavanaugh or have any knowledge of the alleged incident,” the report says.

Ford said that when Kavanaugh assaulted her at a party, Keyser was one of the people downstairs.

The report added that according to the news articles, Keyser reported that McLean and others contacted her to suggest she “clarify” her account.

McLean’s attorney did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Mistaken Identity at Yale?

The report summarizes an interview with a Yale grad who said that a member of Kavanaugh’s fraternity — who was not Kavanaugh — had a reputation for exposing himself publicly.

The man was interviewed after Deborah Ramirez told the New Yorker that Kavanaugh had thrust his penis in her face when they were at Yale. She said she was drunk and wasn’t sure it was Kavanaugh until she thought about it for a week and spoke to her attorney. Kavanaugh vehemently denied her accusation.

KAVANAUGH ACCUSER REFERRED TO DOJ FOR FALSE STATEMENTS, GRASSLEY’S OFFICE ANNOUNCES

The reports says the man, whose name was redacted, also provided a yearbook photo of the frat brother exposing himself.

The report says the man said he had personally witnessed the flasher expose himself at a party and that the flasher was in the same residential college as Ramirez.

Ford Friends

The report summarizes a statement from William Rand, who went to the University of North Carolina with Ford and told investigators that Ford had a very robust and active social life.

His statement seemingly was at odds with Ford’s assertions that she had a difficult time making friends due to her encounter with Kavanaugh, according to the report.

“He also stated that Dr. Ford did not seem to be afraid to be in rooms or apartments with only one entrance, which contradicts her claim to the Committee that she had to build a second front door to her house due to the trauma of the alleged assault,” the report says.

DOJ Referrals

The report also says that the committee has referred four people to the Justice Department for criminal investigation.

They are a Rhode Island man who recanted an allegation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted a woman on a boat in Newport in 1985; Judy Munro Leighton, who claimed to have written an anonymous letter asserting Kavanaugh forced her to have oral sex; and Kavanaugh accuser Julie Swetnick and her attorney Michael Avenati, who also represents the porn actress Stormy Daniels.

Avenatti told Fox News that the Grassley report was “garbage.”

”There is no evidence my client or I did anything wrong,” he said. “We are still waiting and hoping the FBI fully investigates this matter. Chuck evidently doesn’t have any juice.”
