LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Ahead of Tuesday's election, the candidates for California governor are making a furious last-minute push for votes.
Democratic candidate Lt. Gavin Newsom visited Los Angeles-area churches on Sunday along with Sen. Kamala Harris.
Newsom's Republican opponent, businessman John Cox, made his way through the Central Valley Sunday, finishing in Sacramento at night.

I have not seen Newsom ads on my local TV stations recently...I have seen ads about Propositions 6, 8, and 10 more frequently...
I think Newsom is so confident about winning that he is not spending money on TV ads...I have not seen one John Cox ad on my local TV stations...I think Neel Kashkari ran some ads on TV when he ran against Jerry Brown in 2014...
I don't think there is anything centrist about Newsom... I think Gray Davis should be considered more centrist than Newsom...Davis was recalled by CA voters. At least, Davis supported death penalty...Newsom does not support death penalty...He supported the proposition which changed many crimes from felony to misdemeanor...Newsom is soft on crime...But, I don't think people care about that...
I think every CA statewide office will be won by a Dem... OK, Steve Poizner has been running TV ads for Insurance Commissioner job...He is running as an "independent" this time...He ran for the same job as Republican many years ago...His opponent is Ricardo Lara...That guy was busy coming up with laws to help illegal aliens in State Senate...Lara will probably win. He has a Hispanic surname and is a Dem...
I skipped LT. Gov section...I didn't care which Dem took that office...
I did vote for Feinstein...I am not sure if she will serve out next 6 years...I do not want De Leon to end up in US Senate...Once he gets in, he will serve several terms...I don't think any Republican would defeat this guy...
I believe that anything is possible. Miracles.
But Cox may not have been the right man for this golden opportunity. He is not compelling. He did not put up a fight. And he made it a point to distance himself from Trump even though Trump’s twitter endorsement was what ultimately put Cox over the edge (lest we be stuck with a 2 way Dem race between Newsom and Villarogosa.)
This phenomenon is true for many races around the state...the CA GOP does not step up in time and people just assume every voter is a fixed Democrat but it’s not true! Lots of independents out there, more Republicans than one may think (including minority ones), and even libs are fed up with the way L.A. and S.F. are turning into homeless havens with crumbling infrastructure, over-congestion, and unbridled immigration.
Sure he was a moderate: but it wasn’t that long ago when Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) was our governor and Gray Davis (D) was recalled!
Who knows what may be on the horizon for Cali but I hope some good new fresh conservative faces step up to the plate. Wouldn’t someone like Peter Thiel be cool?
I’d love to see Cox win...
To non California Republican voters, this is your vision of Christmas future. Vote!
Newsom’s campaign ads have to win the award for the Creepiest Campaign Ads in Political History. Geez. I don’t know how any American in their right mind could even CONSIDER voting for that freak. I guess all the new recreational drug laws are starting to have an effect.
What?
Any individual that does not stand up for himself and push back after being called a liar and worse on live tv is a wussy. John Cox has proven himself to be a GOPe Republipussy time and time again.
I feel the same way about kamala Harris. Barbara sucked but her leaving made way for a nightmare for decades.
No republican on the ticket.
Just pass up the senate option completely.
I’m torn, I vote today in person and just could not ever imagine putting a check next to Feinstein’s name. DeLeon is a radical and the worse case scenario for not just California but the country. I am extremely confident he won’t win so I am using that as my reason to not ever have to say I voted for Feinstein.
Thats a choice but I think the poster was worried more about the other person winning then Feinstein. Im in Florida. I cant wait to vote for Scott and Desantis tomorrow.

Harris could stay in Senate as long as she wants...I don’t see her losing to some Dem in the primary...I don’t see any Republican defeating her either...

Cox is not exactly a guy with lots of charisma...He is not like Arnold...Yes, he was not conservative...However, we could say that Arnold had charisma...

There is “D” next to his name on the ballot...In CA, that is usually good enough for Democrats to win...Some CA voters will vote for anybody identified as a Dem...That is just the reality...
