But Cox may not have been the right man for this golden opportunity. He is not compelling. He did not put up a fight. And he made it a point to distance himself from Trump even though Trump’s twitter endorsement was what ultimately put Cox over the edge (lest we be stuck with a 2 way Dem race between Newsom and Villarogosa.)
This phenomenon is true for many races around the state...the CA GOP does not step up in time and people just assume every voter is a fixed Democrat but it’s not true! Lots of independents out there, more Republicans than one may think (including minority ones), and even libs are fed up with the way L.A. and S.F. are turning into homeless havens with crumbling infrastructure, over-congestion, and unbridled immigration.
Sure he was a moderate: but it wasn’t that long ago when Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) was our governor and Gray Davis (D) was recalled!
Who knows what may be on the horizon for Cali but I hope some good new fresh conservative faces step up to the plate. Wouldn’t someone like Peter Thiel be cool?
Any individual that does not stand up for himself and push back after being called a liar and worse on live tv is a wussy. John Cox has proven himself to be a GOPe Republipussy time and time again.
