Mattis: Military moving equipment to border ahead of migrant caravan
The Washington Times ^

PRAGUE — The U.S. military has already begun delivering jersey barriers to the southern border in conjunction with plans to deploy active duty troops there, U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said Sunday as a caravan of Central Americans slowly heads across Mexico toward the United States.

Mattis told reporters traveling with him that details of the deployment are still being worked out but he should have them Sunday night. They will include exactly how many forces are needed.

The additional troops will provide logistical and other support to the Border Patrol, and will bolster the efforts of the approximately 2,000 National Guard forces already there. The new forces are expected to provide logistical assistance such as air support and equipment, including vehicles and tents.

National Guard troops routinely perform those same functions, so it is not clear why active duty forces are being used.

President Donald Trump for the past week has been calling attention to the caravan heading by foot into southern Mexico, but it is still hundreds of miles from U.S. soil.

Exactly. When I got out they were setting up something called the Dismounted Battlespace Lab at Benning. Supposedly they had all sorts of nonlethal crowd control whizbang contraptions under development. One was even supposed to make people crap themselves. Never seen any of this.

That said, process these people, load them on C130s and return to sender. They want in they can get in line.

Twp rows of jersey barriers with six rows of razor tape stacked between them with soldiers on both sides of the barrier would do the trick.

No need to use heavy machine guns when light machine guns would do the job.

I was thinking..(?) Does the President or the Governor have controlling power over the Guard.?? Maybe Trump is using active troops in an effort to avoid conflect with somebody like Jerry Brown, (spit)..

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Or this ... can you imagine Nat’l Guard being withdrawn as the caravan hits the border? Dem Govs would do it in a heartbeat to poke Trump in the eye.

Jun 19, 2018

Gov. Ralph Northam recalled Virginia National Guard troops from the U.S. Southwest border Tuesday.

This is in response to the federal government’s enforcement of a “zero-tolerance” policy that separates immigrant children from their families, according to a release.

Northam says that while Virginia benefits from the work of securing the U.S. border, he says that we also have a “responsibility to stand up to policies or actions that run afoul of the values that define us as Americans.”

Northam spoke with the Adjutant General of the Virginia National Guard Tuesday, where he then ordered him to withdraw four soldiers and one helicopter from Arizona. He says these troops will be withdrawn until until the federal government ends its enforcement of a zero-tolerance policy that separates children from their parents.

“When Virginia deployed these resources to the border, we expected that they would play a role in preventing criminals, drug runners and other threats to our security from crossing into the United States—not supporting a policy of arresting families and separating children from their parents,” Northam said.

Northam says he wants to continue to keep the nation safe, but believes the “zero-tolerance” policy is “inhumane.”

For reference, here is the San Ysidro/Tijuana crossing:

Note that going into Mexico is suspicion free and fast, therefore the road is almost devoid of cars. In most cases there are no controls at all. Entering the US, though, there is drug/human smuggling concern, therefore the road is completely jammed.

The plastic Jersey barriers can be filled with sand or water. Makes them very heavy.

The Mexican government may publicly oppose having US troops across the border, but will do nothing.

You have no idea about how effective a large contingent of well-armed, pissed-off Americans will be (the majority of whom will likely be hunters and expert marksmen) at stopping these turds from crossing onto our soil.

Since you have aptly stated the unwillingness of our leaders to do anything effective, and since this emergency is happening now and thus “electing new leaders” is not a practical solution to the PRESENT NATIONAL EMERGENCY, that automatically puts the ball in our court. If our leaders lack the resolve to stop these invaders, then it is our moral duty to stand in the breech.

something special that we already have in the military system.

I think that is what will be used.
New technology, area denial systems etc.

(Jersey barriers? Are those really gonna work?)

Probably make excellent range registrations to sight in on. (sarcasm)

As long as there is about 100 miles or so of razor wire and a few dozen heavy machine gun crews with copious amounts of ammunition I’m okay with this.

Right. It seems communist Democrats just does not get it that this is invasion of a foreign army in civilian clothes.
