The New Jersey Senate race is now looking like a toss-up, according to the the Cook Political Report — a sign that Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez is in serious troubles after years of questions about his ethics.
Why it matters: If Republicans pick up that seat, a Senate majority would be out of reach for the Democrats. Federal prosecutors dropped their corruption charges against Menendez earlier this year, but the Senate Ethics Committee admonished him for accepting gifts from a friend. What the race comes down to is Menendez "and his ethics problems," Cook reports, and if the "voter who goes to the polls...decides to send Menendez a message."

Have to say, a reelection of Menendez will be a complete indictment of Democrat control and the demographic shifts which make it possible. Clear case of moral and financial corruption, and the Republican is a great ex Marine and business leader. Shouldn’t be close.
There is no blue wave. There will be losses due to the normal midterm cycles plus redistricting and retirements. The results will be a mixed bag across the board reflecting candidate quality and local factors. The only real question nationally is who holds the House. It could be either party by a little or worst case a shift to a decent majority by the dems. Clearly no wave though.
A GOP super-majority may be within reach. Fingers crossed.

Isn’t it interesting that Republicans in “Alaf@#@%i#$$bama” (to quote My Cousin Vinny) rejected Roy Moore, but the Democrat zombies of “enlightened” NJ may reelect an accused pedophile.
If this hadn’t remained close the NJ Suoreme Court already would have violated the law and substituted Frank Lautenberg’s decroded corpse for Menendez.
Menendez stayed in office w/ voter fraud....this time will be no different.
I am curious as to why the use by Menendez of child prostitutes was not included in the indictments that resulted in a hung jury and what the RATs call vindication. The FBI supposedly has sworn statements from young girls in the DR that he was a “client”.
The polls should include the questions “are you alive?” and “how many times do you plan to vote?”
If dnc putz Charlie Cook is worried, then we just might flip this seat.
