It’s not really a “caravan,” is it?
Those thousands of desperate migrants walking across Mexico, a massive crowd that grows by the day, are intent on forcing a confrontation at the U.S. border.
This crowd can be called many things, but “caravan” isn’t one of them.
The approach of the desperate thousands from Central America has energized Republicans just days before the November elections. President Donald Trump says the migrants will not be allowed to cross into the U.S. illegally.
Democrats call this fear-mongering, but among Democrats it has caused political paralysis, a self-destructive institutional passivity. Democratic leaders want their members to stay silent.
And there’s one thing about silence.
“Chi tace acconsente,” says my barber, Raffaele Raia. “He who is silent says ‘yes’. The silence is the consent.”
And so, whatever you call this, it may just be the event that finally compels Americans to think long and hard about why a sovereign nation would even bother to have borders at all.
But calling the mass of people moving through Central America a caravan is just a bit too precious, isn’t it?

Wasn’t it just months ago that leading Democratic presidential contenders were demanding to abolish the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that deports people here illegally?
Those were the days when the hard left that now controls the Democratic Party made it clear that border enforcement, by its nature, was racist and lacked compassion.

But now, it’s crickets from the Democrats, a dumb, shocked silence. And the stern cries of former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama of a few short years ago, about the importance of stopping illegal immigration, and the warnings of Hillary Clinton (the centrist Hillary, not the creature she’s since become,) are politely forgotten.

Given how Democrats have hurt themselves on immigration issues, this mass exodus from Central America is a looming disaster.
By sticking their heads in the sand, Pelosi and Schumer tell their Democratic colleagues to simply ignore what voters are seeing on their TV screens every night.
“The president is desperate to change the subject from health care to immigration because he knows that health care is the number one issue Americans care about,” they said in a statement the other day. “Democrats are focused like a laser on health care and will not be diverted.”
You won’t be diverted? That’s your business.
While Republicans push their advantage, Democratic leaders desperately try to persuade voters to shut their eyes to the most important story of the election cycle. And they want Democrats to stay silent.
Chi tace acconsente. The silence of the Democrats is consent.
This looming disaster is owned 100% by the Democrat party. Yes, they need to be reminded of who is calling for an end to ICE, opposing the wall in favor of open borders, and is welcoming this mob from south of the border. This is their disaster and I think Americans don't like the results.

Apparently, they’ve broken their silence.
It’s designed to become a crisis for Trump, and to bring him down. It’s 100% trap. 0% migrants. And it’s not a caravan. They are bused in. They must be bused out.
The hurricane that is on the way can cause a disaster. They must be evacuated now, and that is not Trump’s responsibility. Yet they will blame him.
I was thinking an Executive Order temporarily closing the southern border to all but those with valid visas and Americans having business on the other side. Maybe a 90 day closing. During that time pass a law making null and void catch and release. If we don’t have an immediate court date, send them back until we do. Mexico will have to step up to the plate then and take care of asylum seekers until they can appear before the judge. It will be challenged in court but since it is temporary it should held as being in the prerogative of the Presidents authority.
The no borders, no Federal law enforcement Democrats must face the voters. It will be the American voters who will determine the fate of those caravans.

Shut the Southern Border down immediately to ALL Traffic, Halt All remittances. Tell Mexico to deal with it.

Like most instances of infestation, a crop dusting will eliminate the problem.

Yes, do something. But Executive Order that courts hare more than ready to stay or use direct constitutional authority that they might be more hesitant to second-guess. Close 90 days, deploy troops to enforce it, is great step. That fixing legislation needs to fund the wall, change catch-and-release to catch-and-return (let them apply and follow-up at our US embassy or consulate in their home or guest country), and implement eVerify. I still think we might need to create safe zones inside Mexico to give Mexicans and others safe haven while they repatriated or sent on to other countries but NEVER to the US. We need a virtual moratorium on anyone from south of the border until illegals are returned. Maybe 1,000 leave for every new one allowed in?
I’d be sitting on my porch or in my driveway with a few arms and lots of ammo.
Trump is doing his job.
President is ultimately the ‘top cop’, Chief EXECUTEive officer, he executes the laws.
They aren’t ‘migrants’ they’re ‘invaders’ unless and until we screen and accept them.

I am an old guy and not certain what the legal law for permanent residency is today.
However, in years past, Congress established quotas for each continent and would only accept applications for that number of permanent visas. Those were carefully investigated as to criminality, finances, moral turpitude, etc. They had to prove support and agree not to apply for welfare benefits or to be a burden on the American taxpayer.
The quota system guaranteed a balance of immigrants from around the world. Today it is heavily Hispanic.

Those laws were pretty much gone in the 60s and since. Removed by both parties in favor of multiculturalism and diversity. Then Reagan gave amnesty to illegals at the time, which has led to repeated invasions. I think we are nearing time to re-think Nixon’s disastrous opening with China and Reagan’s amnesty. We’ve got a deep mess thanks to both.
