Retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor revealed in a letter on Tuesday that she has been diagnosed with the "beginning stages of dementia, probably Alzheimer's disease."

"I will continue living in Phoenix, Arizona surrounded by dear friends and family," she wrote and added, "While the final chapter of my life with dementia may be trying, nothing has diminished my gratitude and deep appreciation for the countless blessings of my life."

I am positive she said it and i know Bader-Ginsberg said it.
If Breyer said it, it wouldn’t surprise me and they ALL should have been impeached.
But the GOP has historically lacked balls and, of course, the Dems have no problem with it.

I was a kid when he was president so I don’t remember all of this. To me he was just comfy Grandpa on the TV.

His daughter seemed to be an out of control obnoxious brat in need of a spanking looking in retrospect.

Sad to hear, she was a horrible Justice but nobody should have that happen to them.

He was a great President but apparently not the greatest Dad. All of his natural kids became Liberal nutbags (Michael was adopted). Raised in Hollywood I’m guessing was the reason.

I think his instincts were right to take someone from the state courts. The Fed Court system is too incestuous, and is all about circling wagons around The Swamp.

But you should NEVER promise that your appointee will be a woman, Hispanic, a fake Indian or whatever. You need to go with the BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE, regardless of race or gender.

Promising his first pick would be a woman really pinned him into a corner.

While I obviously had issues with some rulings, she is still a good person unlike RBG.

I am very sad to read this.

IMO her worst ruling was that “Affirmative Action was unconstitutional in the long run but kinda sorta okay in the short term. At least until I think that maybe it isn’t”.

A bigger piece of illogical claptrap the Court has rarely seen.

Yes — Ginsberg. She felt ‘global’ conditions should influence our USSC decisions.

Not a bad way to go for the individual....tough on the family.

Told the gf if it happens to me, that she is absolved, and to just pin my S.S. # to my shirt and drop me off at the nearest place. I told her, in the words of Glen Campbell, “I’m not gonna miss you”.

I’m still here, but yet I’m gone
I don’t play guitar or sing my songs
They never defined who I am
The man that loves you ‘til the end
You’re the last person I will love
You’re the last face I will recall
And best of all, I’m not gonna miss you
Not gonna miss you
I’m never gonna hold you like I did
Or say I love you to the kids
You’re never gonna see it in my eyes
It’s not gonna hurt me when you cry
I’m never gonna know what you go through
All the things I say or do
All the hurt and all the pain
One thing selfishly remains
I’m not gonna miss you
I’m not gonna miss you

~Glen Campbell

Her deceased husband experienced the same end.

As I read the article, I thought to myself "didn't her husband die of the same thing?" .... thanks for answering that question.

What a shame. My dad died of Dementia/Alzheimers. It's a horrible way to go, wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Well, maybe Bill Clinton, Barack Hussein Obama and Hitlery Clinton.....

In 2006 Sandra had to put her husband in an Alzheimer’s care facility. He had been dealing with Alzheimer’s for a long time, and at that point he didn’t even know who his wife was anymore. As soon as he moved into the care facility he “fell in love” with another woman, and he was openly googly woogly ookie wookie with this woman.

Can you imagine how crushing this must have been for Sandra? She and her husband had happily married for 55 years. When asked about her husband’s new lover by the press, she said, “I just want him to be happy.” Her husband died in 2009.

Reagan appointed her in spite of fact leadership in Arizona went back to Washington to testify against O’Connor and spoke out publicly about her weaknesses on Pro-life issues and excessive reliance on precedent. He was betrayed by RINOs.

Sorry to hear this news. Regardless of my opinion of her voting and opinions on the SC (and it isn’t very high), for anyone to literally lose their mind and know that it is happening must be horrifying. For someone as intelligent as she, it must be more so.

FWIW, she is the aunt of my (long ago) Torts professor at Vanderbilt U. Law School. The year before I started there, he convinced her to give the keynote speech at graduation - that had to be a thrill for those graduates.
