Race, class, love, death, white privilege, black disadvantage. Those heavy subjects are present, alongside the seemingly foregone conclusions that the system is rigged against those at the bottom by those at the top, you cant fight city hall (but you absolutely must not give in to despair). Alongside the kaleidoscopic chaos of just plain being a teenager in 21st-century America, these global themes carom off each other in this wise and bittersweet adaptation of Angie Thomas best-selling young-adult novel.

Stenberg gives an Oscar-worthy performance as Starr Carter, a high schooler who witnesses the senseless murder of her childhood friend Khalil (Algee Smith) by a trigger-happy cop one night.
And this movie is going to improve race relations how? Someone is going to get hurt or even killed.

The ad is pathetic. Shes treated great at her majority white school and complains about it. I have to hide who I am! I cant let them think Im ghetto! Then she and her black friend are pulled over by the cops and he is told to put his hands on the roof of the car. He winks at her and reaches into the car to grab a brush. They assume hes reaching for a gun and kill him. Which would be the case if he was a white guy failing to use common sense and reaching into the car for an unknown object.

I’m thinking of starting a website called, “Go Hate Me”, and for $25 you can post how much you actually hate me.
I wonder how many dimms will post to it?

“The Hate U Give the title is partly adapted from Tupacs famous T.H.U.G. L.I.F.E. ink is as of-the-moment as social commentary comes.”
Yeah ol’ Tupac another black man killed by a white cop. Oh wait I got that wrong. He was gunned down during a drive by in Las Vegas. Too bad a white cop wasn’t nearby.

And in Chicago this week...
20 black youths will be killed solely by other blacks.

Exactly, the author uses T.H.U.G as the acronym for her novel title. The acronym for life is disgusting, but this is used in our schools. People need to look up what Tupac’s Thug Life means. The novel teaches students not to respect police.

I admit I don't know what has changed. I spent 22 years in he Air Force, retiring in 1975. I worked with Blacks, I commanded Blacks, and in one assignment my commanding officer was a Black Colonel.
In my final assignment I commanded an engineering unit. About a third of my troops were Blacks (35 out of 100). All the Blacks I worked with either had engineering degrees, or certificates from technician schools. They were all competent in their jobs.
What is wrong with the Blacks such as those in the article? They are certainly nothing like the Blacks I knew and respected. If anything, things should be better for Blacks now than they were over 40 years ago. What has changed? What aren't Blacks today building on the success of the kind of Blacks achieved over 40 years ago? I simply do not understand it.

The hysterical, radical socialists are flaming out. Feminism (misogamy: hatred of marriage) was grotesque. Feminism is dead. Good riddance.
