The US-Saudi relationship must be preserved – our national interest demands it
Fox News ^ | Oct. 16, 2018 | Jim Hanson

The concerted efforts now underway to derail the improved relations between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia established by the Trump administration are unhelpful at best and dangerous to America’s national and economic security at worst.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is a reformer trying to modernize his country. The steps he has taken so far are unprecedented. Letting that progress fall victim to mistakes by his government and attacks from opponents would be a massive mistake.

The death of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi – a critic of the Saudi government, who has not been heard from since he entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul two weeks ago – was a tragedy. If the facts show the government of Saudi Arabia was responsible for his death it should be held accountable.

But the death of Khashoggi does not outweigh U.S. strategic concerns, which require that we maintain good relations with the Saudi government. We must react accordingly – not as a favor to the Saudis, but in our own national interest.

In the Middle East we must keep our eyes on the biggest threat in the region – the dangerous and virulently anti-American government of Iran, which poses a military danger to its neighbors and our ally Israel.

Excellent overview, thanks!! A lot of balls in the air at once.... David Ignatius (CIA stooge) of WaPo has some fervent quotes supporting Khashoggi and giving the CNN/WaPo version of the story. That only makes me more suspicious, not less, thank you David Ignatius. He is a reliable channel in the MSM for certain CIA interests which are not necessarily good AMERICAN interests.

Some of that is true. The sides are now being chosen up for the war that is coming, basically for who will control the vast oil deposits in Syria, which is no longer a country really, and in Israel (newly discovered).

Saudi (Sunni) and Iran (Shiite) are mortal enemies for control of the Middle East. Erdogan sees Turkey as the caliphate eventually and will end up siding with Russia and Iran against Saudi, us, and Israel. Maybe not us.

So there’s that old brother-against-brother thing too. Not to mention everyone against Israel.

Some things that raise further questions, suspicions, or need to be explained about the initial MSM accounts:

1) While cam footage was released supposedly showing Khashoggi entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, for some reason (heh heh) the Turks don’t seem to want to release continuous verifiable footage of the following 20, 30, 60 minutes etc. I.e., so far they are unwilling even to attempt to “prove” that Khashoggi did not re-emerge (even such “proof” might be fakes, of course, but if they had legit footage why have they not released it to try to nail down their case??).

2) Nothing (so far) has been released about alleged Turkish recordings, iPhone data from Khashoggi’s phone, alleged “Apple watch” data/transmissions etc. You might think they just want everyone to “take their word for it” rather than actually prove the case they say they have.

3) Reportedly, Apple watch can’t transmit more than a Bluetooth distance of 30 ft or so, possibly less through walls, so it is a dubious claim that Khashoggi’s “fiance” has verifiable Apple watch recordings to his phone with evidence of interrogation and torture, etc.

4) Khashoggi had a “final column” for WaPo ready to go which his assistant sent off to WaPo editor the very next day. He was not a regular columnist, just someone who had submitted a few op-eds, so it seems curious to me that he had something like this all ready to go at just the moment of his disappearance. It was a heartfelt plea for political change in Saudi Arabia etc. Now this could all be coincidence (that he had such a column ready to go just as he was “eliminated” .... or could this even be some staged disappearance for propaganda purposes (i.e., could he even still be alive somewhere). I don’t know, just posing questions because the whole thing seems “fishy” to me....

5) The sole “couple photo” of Khashoggi with his (alleged) fiance looks highly likely to have been faked, i.e., someone took a previous older photo of him (which had appeared in WaPo a year earlier) and cropped her into the photo. Aside from the indications of some Photoshopping etc., look at how odd the two faces look juxtaposed, once you wonder if the photo has been faked... i.e., her face is behind him and they don’t really look at all like they are sitting together as a “couple” for a joint “selfie”.... especially since the same selfie of his face seems to have been taken the year before.

6) So far NO ONE who knows him has even confirmed they were an engaged couple, and no photo/public evidence seems to exist of any engagement, or even of any significant relationship between them. She seemed to be added to his Twitter “follows” very recently and he only ever replied to her once on Twitter. By her own account they met just months ago in May 2018, yet somehow they are already engaged even though no one among his friends or family has acknowledged knowing of this engagement.

Maybe all the oddities will be explained, or maybe there is some serious fakery and propaganda going on here.

Numbers 1,2,3 were inventions by the Turks so they wouldn’t have to reveal that they had ‘bugs’ all over the Saudi embassy.

That would not explain why they don’t release street cam footage. It would not conclusively “prove” that Khashoggi never re-emerged but it could demonstrate that he did not re-emerge within a certain period of time, e.g., the first 30 minutes or 60 minutes.

ALso, it’s not an embassy but a consulate (the embassies are in the capital of Turkey, Ankara).

And that difference is important in this case, why?

Because it points out that you are spouting about stuff you know little or nothing about.

Marriage with first and second cousins is not uncommon, leading to increase in occurrence of genetic defects. Meanwhile, the Saudis are working on their story. Once new happening is that the reported killer of Khashoggi has now been killed in an automobile accident in SA. I wonder how many more “witnesses” will die soon. I had high hopes for the Prince, but alas he appears to be just as bad but in slightly more modern ways.

Thirty years ago, an insider told me that there was oil off the coast of Lebanon and also off the coast of Vietnam. Humm?
