Joe Manchin: I’m Looking at Kavanaugh’s Life ‘from 22 to 53’ to Decide Vote

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) signaled in an interview published Thursday that decades-old sexual misconduct allegations against Brett Kavanaugh will not play a major role in his vote on the judge’s Supreme Court confirmation. Manchin, a key Democrat swing vote, lamented the Senate Judiciary Committee’s handling of its investigation into allegations against Kavanaugh, describing the previous few weeks as “horrible” and a “circus.”

“I am looking at the gentleman as an adult from 22 to 53, thirty-one years of professional service,” Manchin told Al-Jazeera. “I am looking at him as a father. As a person in a community, how he interacts with his community. I am trying to put the human side to it.”

The red state Democrat made similar remarks told Fox News’ Chad Pergram Wednesday afternoon.

Manchin’s remarks come as Democrat Senators have begun ratcheting up criticism of the FBI’s findings. Sen. Chris Coons (D-CT) expressed concern Thursday morning that the agency did not interview Kavanaugh or his first accuser, California psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford.

I have heard vastly disconnect stories coming from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford; I have heard that she was a partier, and even one wild claim - supposed made by her - that she had had sex with 50+ men before finishing high school. I’ve see her picture in 1982, and somehow I doubt that!

I do not. She was not hideous, but also certainly no great beauty. However, remembering what I and my cohorts were like in that era, free milk is free milk - there would have been gents from all around town lining up to get a bucket full.

IMHO, naturally.

Dear Joe, your no vote will guarantee the end of your career as an overpaid pompous @ss senator. One vote.

You may get fired in November regardless of your vote, you’re such a spineless self-serving WORM. West Virginia loves Trump and I imagine the voters by now are absolutely sick of you.

Manchin is building the foundation to vote yes.

Sen. Joe Manchin says he was ‘thrown out’ of the room while reading the FBI’s Brett Kavanaugh report. He said he hasn’t made up his mind on how he will vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

[Joe, you are the kind of democrat we can live with.... Scoop Jackson, John Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey, Joe Lieberman....You sometimes show common sense with a rationale that’s plausible, even though we may disagree with it. Don’t blow it with Kav.]

Manchin talks a good game, but he is a far leftist, with ACU ratings worse than Collins’s:

It would be a great boon to the nation and to WV, if Manchin lost his seat this November.

Manchin isn’t spineless - he’s a liar. He’s a resolute far leftist who’s camouflaged himself as a moderate.

"I did not know that Patrick Morrissey was originally from New Jersey. That seems to be really hurting him with West Virginia voters. East Coast carpetbagger and all."

The carpetbagger tag hurts in WV unless you are Jay Rockefeller. That, and in my opinion, Morrissey is a lousy campaigner. Also keep in mind despite WV being an overwhelming Red State in presidential elections, there remains a pro union sentiment along with the Rats having strong orginization on the local level. Century old habits are hard to break.

[Oh, blow it out your a**, you dumb hick.]

Given his descent from a family of merchants, I’d say Manchin is the opposite of a hick. In fact, Manchin is posing as a hick running against the big city slicker Yankee from the Northeast. Unfortunately, his deceptive campaign has him ahead in the polls. Would it have killed Morrissey to have taken up hunting in the last year or so? Or started frequenting gun ranges to shoot the breeze with the locals?

I apologize for using the word “hick”. He just makes me so angry that I resort to stupid insults. So, you’re saying a Yankee outsider is running against him while refusing to get involved in southern culture? (Forgive me, I don’t know much about this match up.)

Guess he’s still gauging the political wind.

Prediction: He'll vote to confirm. Before casting his vote, he will have already informed the powers that be on the democrat side, that if they dare seek revenge on him for his vote, he'll switch parties and add to the republican red wave.

Morrissey’s from Westfield, NJ. He doesn’t seem to be much of a schmoozer with the hoi polloi. Which is not a problem when you’re a DC lobbyist, which he was, but a real disadvantage in a politician.

To be tagged a campaigner, you have to campaign. How many counties has he covered? He’s running against a popular incumbent senator and former governor. He can’t just coast off campaign ads and Trump’s coat tails. He has to show he wants it.

Manchin comes from a well known, politicaly powerful WV family.
Morrisey comes from NJ.
