You're forgetting that all the street hoods hold the weapon sideways. /s
I have no idea what they currently use but the British ordered their FAL’s in semi auto only.
Each block holds four projectiles. That means you would need to change blocks at a rate 7.5 times faster than a conventional 30 round mag. Not very advantageous in a firefight.
You wanna rock and roll 100 years after the fact; you cant go wrong with Browning.
すべてのロケット銃!
Nice cigarette lighter!
Exactly what I thought.
True enough. However, ammo weighs a heck of a lot less if you don't have to also cart along propellant, primer and brass.
“Chop-Chop! You quit looking at Japanese girl’s boobies Bond-Sun, and please pay attention to this special ‘cigarette’ launcher thingy.”
Interesting. I never saw a rifle design like that. As you say, pretty sophisticated for its era.
Probably meant 2,500 FPS.
The British currently use the L85 series, a Stoner AR18-based system, with full auto capability.
There have been many controversies about it, almost all related to detail engineering and build quality. H&K was brought in to resolve those problems. However, details aside its in the same design and capability ballpark as all modern 5.56 automatic rifles.
The whole world uses very similar rifles these days.
That’s assuming one wants to use the “top speed” cited, and not the more normal operating modes.
Think of it (I am assuming) as a sort of burst-fire feature. One press of the trigger shoots four, then the magazine feeds another block of four. Press the trigger again, etc.
Thanks for the info.
Well, you will have to lug along propellant and primer and cases with this thing too.
The question here is whether the weight is greater or less than the equivalent number of rounds of conventional ammunition.
Whats been shown seems to be bulkier, at least, than conventional brass-cased ammo. I don’t know if the system as a whole is bulkier than the current systems, counting magazines.
This way you can get four misses just a fast as you can get one . . .
“If you can pour sand in the breach and have a sustainable rate of fire, Ill buy one.”
Or just buy an AK47.
True.
On the other hand volume often has a quality of its own.
OH JOY! More weight to hump - that will be a big hit with the troops
