BEIJING (Reuters) - China will cut import tariffs on textile products and metals, including steel products, to 8.4 percent from 11.5 percent, effective Nov. 1, the finance ministry said on Sunday.

Even free-trader, Martin Feldstein--President Reagan's Council of Economic Advisers--defends President Trump's tariffs. In the best summary available on the subject, Feldstein explains that "Tariffs could be worth it if Chinese were forced to stop stealing U.S. technology."

3% is pretty easily overcome somewhere else - a slight currency devaluation, a new license or inspection requirement on the foreign competitor, a tax exemption for the domestic competitor, etc.
3% is not going to fundamentally alter the trade balance, and it is not going to to stop the wholesale theft of Intellectual Property. In the big picture, it is merely a token.
The general stated that we would blind China and anyone else involved on an attack of the USA and that specifically China was to sued for peace which would happen within weeks; that the country was going to be divided up into 18-19 different States nonaligned and that those plans were essentially a done deal. China is screwed if they don't win and if they are blinded, and the US Military makes surgical strikes throughout their military and water, elec, food distribution, to include a total destruction of their capacity to manufacture electronics that the peace would be permanent - leaving the US with a stockpile of electronics to rev up dominance in manufacturing. Far Fetched I think not.
Bottom Line it was going to be Signal that wins this war.

We simply need to make it mirror tariffs and it will be done. If they add a tariff, we add a tariff. If their tariff is 25% then ours should be as well. Because they import different things than they export, we should consider their tariffs to be either the same or added to a general tariff of goods coming from them.
