Jeff Flake Straddling the Fence on Kavanaugh Ahead of Friday Vote
Roll Call ^ | Sept 27, 2018 | Niels Lesniewski

Posted on 09/27/2018 8:00:24 PM PDT by Governor Dinwiddie

Sen. Jeff Flake, seen as a key swing vote who could either put Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court or kill his chances, is not committing to voting for the nominee at a Friday morning Judiciary Committee markup.

The Arizona Republican sounded very conflicted Thursday evening following a meeting of the Senate Republican Conference after the Judiciary panel spent nearly nine hours Thursday hearing from Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused him of sexually assaulting her at a party decades ago when they were both in high school.

Flake, a Judiciary member, said much of what he and other senators were trying to work through is what the burden of proof or standard of evidence should be in reviewing the testimony of both Ford and Kavanaugh.

He probably got punched in the nose by some straight guy he tried to pick up.

Heard the same on CSPAN tonight; but on the plus side, some called into open lines, lifelong Democrats, but after today, they are leaving the party. They are disgusted how they tried to destroy this guy.

He’s not holding out for pork. He has refused to run again after hitting 15% in the polls. I’ve contacted him but have no hope he cares anything about his constituents. If anything, he is angling for a DC job.

The fence should be electrified and with the top wire replaced with barbed wire.

That generally discourages straddling.

If he votes no in Committee, Kavanaugh will still come out of Committee but Flake will give cover to the red state Dems in the Senate to vote no in the full Senate vote also.

Now that Juan MCCain is dead, Saint Jeffy is the most hated man in Arizona.

He KNOWS the last minute accusations are cr@p, he’s pretending that he can’t tell if Skank Ford is lying.

Saint Jeffy is a very bitter sore loser. His political career is over, so he will probably go scorched earth. I will be shocked if he votes for Kavanaugh, he is that desperate to stick it to Trump.

trying to work through is what the burden of proof or standard of evidence should be

Ford didn’t even meet a preponderance of the evidence. She had no corroborating witnesses or evidence. But that is only if you are looking to honestly weigh the evidence.

With the Senate Judiciary Committee holding a vote at 9:30 A.M. tomorrow, a Senate insider has told Townhall that Kavanaugh has the votes to make it out of committee and the votes to be confirmed on the floor for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. Sens. Flake (R-AZ), Collins (R-ME), Murkowski (R-AK), and Manchin (D-WV) are expected to vote in favor of Kavanaugh. All the Republicans are voting yes. Also, in the rumor mill, several Democrats may break ranks and back Kavanaugh. That’s the ball game, folks.
