Liberal Pope Francis has lost the most important liberal weekly in Europe

You might think that the enthusiastic support Pope Francis has offered for environmentalism, open borders, and the normalization of homosexual behavior would buy him support from liberal media. But Der Spiegel, the most important weekly magazine in Europe, has turned against the Roman Catholic Prelate with a cover story that proclaims (auf Deutsch) the Ninth Commandment: “Thou shalt not lie,” with a subhead: “The Pope and the Catholic Church in their greatest crisis.”

Der Spiegel’s online English-language website has not yet published a translation of its new cover story, but via the website Rorate Caeli, we get a partial translation from the Catholic Herald:

The report most notably includes an interview with an abuse survivor from Argentina who says she was one of a group of victims who wrote to Francis shortly after his election, but never received a reply.

The woman, Julieta Añazco, says she was sexually abused by a priest when she was seven years old. She said that in 2013, shortly after Pope Francis was elected, she and 13 other victims wrote to him to describing what had happened.

They sent the letter by recorded delivery and, three weeks later, received a confirmation of receipt. However, they never received a reply.

The accused priest was subsequently transferred to a nursing home where he “continues to celebrate Mass”.

“During Bergoglio’s time as cardinal, many of the abuse victims in Buenos Aires had turned to him for help; nobody was permitted access to him,” the magazine says, adding that there are currently 62 trials in process against Argentine priests. “The number of their victims could be in the thousands.”

I have looked for an English translation of the Der Spiegel article in question, but so far, no luck.

The cover-up is enormous, if what we hear is true.

The gay mafia has kicked out good, conservative priests and denied potentially good seminarians admittance in favor of those who would support the homo agenda within the Church because they are, well, homos.

Francis was elected by this crowd and is doing their bidding.

Of course, to liberals, it’s not about the Pope’s pro-homosexuality stance. They’d be just fine with the whole church going LGBT, with priests dressed as nuns and performing immoral sexual acts all the time. But pedophilia is still one of the few immoral things they oppose, for now.

This article posted earlier (last night I think) just blew me away...
Chicago Priest Who Burned Gay Flag Flees After Archdiocese Threatens Forcible Removal

The Church is kicking out good priests because they are against the homo agenda.

This is time for the laity to revolt.

Good evening, Rooster.

This is from another FR post on this same expose:

"19 page full report, headlined “Thou shalt not lie” and subtitled “The silence of the shepherds”, attacks the Pope’s handling of the abuse crisis and his attempted Church reforms."

#30

Incredibly painful, but absolutely necessary for the truth to come out. It's long since time to lance this abscess and drain out the pus.

May it cause the downfall of evil men, the crushing of their power --- and may they repent in the end, in heartfelt penitential tears, and be saved.

On Justice and Mercy:

As usual, the man before Francis put it just right:

"In His justice, God recognizes our sin and the need of its reparation, while, in His mercy, He showers upon us the grace to repent and make reparation." - Pope Benedict XVI

German-language article behind a paywall. Doubt if they’ll provide the English-language translation immediately. Perhaps someone on FR with access to a hard copy might summarize, and post.

Even so, most of my Roman Catholic friends appalled by recent goings-on.

He [Pope Frankie] showers upon us

The very idea of showering near Pope Frankie is scary indeed.

Thank you for that Mrs. D.

My confidence is rising that the Church will stand up and kick Frankie to the curb.

But it will not be a simple thing.

My hope and my prayer is that the Church will reclaim itself from this pervert and his pervert supporters.

This will be a very big deal as far as this small planet is concerned.

Post this in the Catholic caucus so no one can say anything negative. That way they can ensure the debate centers around the people not the institution. The Catholic Church has been corrupt for so long I’m not sure how anyone can continue to believe the Catholic leadership. I am not disagreeing with Catholic believers just their leadership. At this point I’m not sure how their church survived all this. And don’t try to convince me with all the statistics telling me that the Catholic Church is build on saint compared to everyone else. I’m not buying it.

I’m not speaking directly to you personally just more to the situation. I don’t mean offense to you personally.

Parts of the Catholic Church have been corrupt since Judas Iscariot. The size of the corrupt fraction has waxed and waned over the centuries. But the corrupt parts have always eventually been reformed "somehow"...often by totally unexpected means. The Church has survived because God made sure that it would. Don't assume that today's laity believes the leadership.

I know more than a few faithful Catholics, most of them late middle age and older, and Catholic all their life. They do not condone or defend this criminal conduct by their priests. They suffer in silence, massive cognitive dissonance. All their lives they were expected to revere priests. Now they hear that many, often including their own at some time or other, are vile criminals and perverts. But what are they to do? Many quit attending Mass, or making their weekly offering, but what does that accomplish?

The evil these men have perpetrated does harm to waves of innocent people far beyond the actual victims. If you care to, be considerate of how you would feel in their shoes, after years of faithful obedience.

The church survives because the people trust in God to make it right in the end. And for millions that is their prayer.

Go ahead and kick Frankie to the curb. What good would it do, even if you could do so? Frankie hasn't spent the last 5.5 years promoting reformers and conservatives. Quite the contrary, he's been promoting members of the homosexual/pedophile mafia. When it's time to install a new pope, who do you think they're going to pick...a reformer? The chance of that happening is zero. The catholic church is heading the same direction as the Episcopalians and the Anglicans. In the very near future, homosexuality will be embraced as natural and normal. It's been pushed in our schools for decades now, so younger catholics won't see it as any big deal, since their brainwashing is pretty much complete.

Nobody is going to kick Frankie to the curb like Bennie was. Catholics are stuck with him until he dies. And his successor will be chosen by the same homosexual/pedophile mafia that installed Frankie. Only this time, they're going to be much more powerful, thanks to all of Frankie's appointments. If you're a catholic, this is your reality. The catholic church is going to enter the 21st century, just like the Episcopalians and Anglicans did. Count on it. It's going to happen. Soon. At a catholic church near you.

Post this in the Catholic caucus so no one can say anything negative.

Now why would you want to go full Democrat and suppress other points of view. If catholics want to confine this debate to practicing catholics only, they should do so in a catholic forum. FreeRepublic should be open to all conservative points of view, even if some catholics don't like it.
