A candidate endorsed by the Trump administration has won the Republican nomination for a U.S. House seat in New Hampshire, and he’d be the state’s first black congressman if elected in November.
Eddie Edwards, of Dover, won a six-way race in Tuesday’s GOP primary for the 1st Congressional District.
Edwards is a Navy veteran who also served as a police chief and as chief enforcement officer for the state liquor commission.

Since then — “up to a few years ago” — has he indicated any change in his ideology? People change; Trump did, for example.
He might be the second black congressmen from New England - both Republicans...
Note: NH is 94% White, 3% Other/Mixed, 2% Asian, and 1% Black.

“I have never voted for any money going to Planned Parenthood,” Edwards told NHJournal. “I’ve spoken publicly about this. I’ve never been supportive of Planned Parenthood.”
The same is true of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition based in Boston. Despite their open advocacy of illegal immigration–including a high-profile push for their “Welcoming” program that urges communities to oppose immigration enforcement— Edwards says he did not support their efforts.
“I have never been supportive of any initiative to allow people to be here illegally, and to use taxpayers dollars for that,” Edwards told NHJournal.

This is all about who retains control of the House and chooses the Speaker. These midterms are about who supports Trump and who does not. We know the Dem candidate will support Pelosi and probably impeachment.

That’s a more conservative position than the deal that President Trump was offering a few months ago. IMHO, our line in the sand has to be blocking any pathway to citizenship so as not to create an incentive for future illegal aliens as occurred after the Reagan amnesty.
I don’t expect Edwards to be perfect, but he’ll probably have a better voting record than Frank Guinta or Jeb Bradley did, and he won’t cast any Paultard votes (a la Amash and Massie) like Sanborn would have. Moreover, I think that Edwards can win this November.
I’m glad to hear that, despite your apprehensions regarding Edwards, you are supporting him in the general. It’s going to be a tight race and we can’t afford to leave any votes on the table.
It should have been; the district voted narrowly for Trump, and only narrowly for Obama over Romney, and Republican House nominees have won 7 of the past 8 midterm elections in the district (1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2010 and 2014; the RAT won in the 2006 wave).
