Food crops - corn and wheat. Principal meat exports - poultry and beef. If the 29% reduction holds, SA just went from a food exporting country to a food importing country in a single season.

I'm not an expert in South African Ag, but do work in USA and Asian agriculture. S.A.'s main crops, as you point out, are corn (for animal feed) and wheat (for humans). A comparable large scale crop reduction occurred in 1993 (the claim, because of drought) and South Africa became a big importer of corn. South African Rand has dropped by 40% this year, so if they need a couple million tons of corn, it will cost them A LOT.

Moreover, only 13% of S.A. land is arable - meaning they depend on irrigation, pumps, tractors - technology. That's partially why white farms are political targets - the farms are large, because they must be large. F*** up those farms, and S.A. will get a huge, and rapid, drop in Ag. production. Inflation will spike very badly.

The ANC is going to first kill the white farmers, then they will kill themselves.

Unexpected? Black Africans are killing the white farm owners and taking their lands and this is written as unexpected? Who writes this garbage anyway.

The journalists who reported on the obama economy are back.

This is all the result of climate change. The drought that destroyed Zimbabwe’s agriculture has moved south. Give me credit for this. I believe I am the first to make this announcement. You will see it in the press in the near future. National Review used to report on the drought conditions in the Soviet Union every year. This climate change occurred in 1917 and lasted for decades.

Maybe Nike will build sneaker “farms” and pay the help with food.

South Africa will now as the former Soviet Union did have fifty straight years of adverse weather impacting crop yields.

My guess is that that the “leaders” of this insanity are still well fed and stuffing their pockets from their treasury, probably have some nice get-away-fast plan already in place too.

September is the month they plant corn. If they don’t plant corn, it is going to make it very difficult for the people to get food. Another basket case due to the efforts of Commies (ANC).

But perhaps the plan of leadership is to starve the populace and make them dependent on the state.

They may have misjudged the effects of shutting down the farms and we may eventually hear of some cannibalism in the SA. Just as happened in the Soviet Union.

While these new policies are wrecking the production of agricultural crops, take a look at the South African tax structure. It’s going to screw it up too. I’m not a bean counter but it looks they”re going to have to raise taxes at some point to makeup for the shortfall in that area. And that is just the start.

This transfer of wealth (land reform) is going to have a negative effect on the current standard of living of both whites and blacks alike. People with wealth will bail out to New Zealand or other countries leaving behind everyone else to survive as best they can.

As more areas of the economy collapse, the overall economy of South Africa will dwindle down to nothing. The currency will be worthless. The only people with jobs will be working for the government and getting paid in worthless currency or first dibs on whatever the government can provide (confiscated from the remaining few with assets).

KFC and Mickey D’s will close down their franchises because there isn’t any chicken or beef available to serve to the few consumers with cash to spend. Besides neighbors will be BBQing feral dogs and cats by then. Maybe other neighbors as well.

The UN will have to feed the poor starving population and prevent civil unrest as mob violence (anarchy) break out. The IMF and the Central Banks will have to buy SA bonds to keep any economy left going. South Africa will become a financial black hole in the world economy.

Socialism sucks, It’s never worked anywhere in the past. But then again the right people weren’t in charge, right?. Maybe we can send somebody over from Chicago or Detroit to explain to the South Africans how it’s supposed to work.

You can be sure when South Africa has gone full tilt into the toilet, the leftist socialists here (and maybe around the globe) will blame it on Trump and his racist followers.
