In a historic victory, Boston City Councilor Ayanna Pressley unseated Rep. Mike Capuano, a progressive Congressional favorite first elected in 1998 in Massachusetts' seventh congressional district. Capuano took the stage shortly after 9:15 p.m. and conceded the race.
"I'm sorry it didn't work out, but this is life," Capuano told supporters. "This is OK. America is going to be OK. Ayanna Pressley is going to be a good congresswoman, and Massachusetts will be well served. "This is not the side we wanted to be on," he added. "Clearly the district wanted a lot of changes."
Pressley, 44, mounted a surprising campaign against Capuano that led to one of the most-watched primaries in the nation. She won the seat that represents parts of Boston, Cambridge, Milton and all of Chelsea, Everett, Randolph and Somerville.
She runs unopposed in November, and will be the first person of color Massachusetts sends to the United State House of Representatives.

YIKES!!!!
“Good to see those Democrats up there starting to overcome their racism.”
My thoughts as well. It’s 2018...and the leftist phony progs are just now sending a ‘person of color’ to Congress! They should be forced to explain that, as they use every lame excuse they can invent just to say the Red States are racist.
Not a lifetime job, eh? Ted Kennedy was elected in ‘62, the year I was born.He left office in ‘09 when he died

MA had a black US Senator, Ed Brooke.A Republican (though a liberal one)
Democrats are at the point now where Stalin himself couldn't win a primary election because he wouldn't be far enough to the left for them.
Pol Pot might still be able to squeeze in along with Mao Tse-Tung but it would be a close call.
Should hold republican Governor, but 70,000 turned out to vote republican and 140,000 votes for the democratic challenger. I hope we keep the Governor seat at least.
When I voted in the Mass. primary today there was no republican candidate running for that position. -Tom
While failing to mention that the GOP produced the first black U.S. Senator in Massachusetts more than a half century earlier.
Socialism seems to sell in the Northeast and West Coast but no where else....Will serve to drive moderates to Conservative Dems to the GOP and Trump..
I am glad that he lost. Happy as a Lark.
Definitely right. The Dems are going so left (if possible) that surely they will be trounced everywhere else.
Yup. I thought that it would have have been in 2010, but somehow, my neighbors held on to that soon to be gone Seat.
(Sorry!)
Looks like the white male progressive has been successful. He has replaced himself with the embodiment of his policies.
Just as long as Polly favors alternative energy sources, affirmative action for Trannies, mass-infanticide paid for by the taxpayers and impeaching Trump, it’s all good.
Oh, I hope so...that’d be great.
Baker is no more a Republican than Joe Biden. No loss if he’s defeated.
Isn’t this why Southern states generally have primary run offs?
Why do the politically insane flock here? I’m tired of these creatures....
If it helps thin the ranks of the lefties, I’m all for it.
