Sounds like this guy is even further left than Ocasio-Cortez.
Don’t think it will play well w/Indy voters or even moderate Dems.
Maybe those voters stay home.
Thoughts from any Floridians?

This is an absolute gift to the GOP. The guy is almost comically anti-gun. He’s an MSNBC caricature. He’s Al Sharpton.

Thank you
DeSantis seems like a smart guy..I’m sure he knows that won’t play well in FL & then help Scott get over the finish line as well.

“This means DeSantis is a shoe-in.”

I sure hope so.

Sorry, I realize, and was just commenting about the headline. It’s irritating to me that the left has appropriated the term ‘progressive’, as though they’re the ones bringing the world forward. True progress in a societal political sense is the promotion of individual freedom and self-determinism - not group think.

I wonder if this idiot realizes a doctor can refuse to accept Medicare patients.

“Progressive” is the most accurate descriptor of the Democrat/Left ... as in the cancer known as Leftism is a “progressive” disease.

The votes should be counted again.

Are you crazy? Do you want Graham to be the nominee? I think it would be a harder fright with her. I am shocked she didn’t win quite frankly, but I am happy as can be.

NPAs (you’re truly included) didn’t even show up at the polls today.

They really can’t. We have closed primaries meaning independents cannot vote......they can get a ballot for school board but most don’t bother to do that. They will be out to vote in November though.

A “progressive Democrat” is a Marxist by their cover name.

As Mark Levin has so presciently said, “Progressivism is the bastard child of Marxism”.

Or, you could look at as “just being a little bit pregnant”.

“So what’s a “progressive” democrat?”

“progressive” is essentially a euphemism for totalitarian leftism ... whenever you see the word “progressive” used, just mentally substitute the word “communism” and you won’t be too far off ...

// Will his/her progressivism (communism) help him/her in the general election? //

It means this will be all liberal hands on deck (hollywood, sports & music “celebs”, also anti gun, Parkland, antifa), no holds barred (charges of racism a la Obama, voting probs, legal challenges), spare no expense (Soros et al).

Sorry FRiend, I didn’t mean to imply that you had.
My post was re another instance by the Left of hijacking a term that doesn’t apply to them in the least.

// https://www.tampabay.com/florida-politics/buzz/2018/07/20/what-we-know-and-dont-know-about-the-fbi-investigation-hanging-over-andrew-gillums-campaign/
...

Still, Burgan noted, voters rarely mention the (FBI) investigation on the campaign trail.

Gillum’s Democratic opponents also haven’t seized on the issue. A Florida voter would be hard-pressed to find a negative television advertisement about Gillum. And when Chris King, one of Gillum’s opponents, was asked about the investigation in a gubernatorial debate in June, King defended Gillum.

Aubrey Jewett, a political science professor at the University of Central Florida, said there are a number of reasons for Democrats’ reluctance to weigh in. The case is still murky and Gillum hasn’t been implicated in any wrongdoing, so Gillum’s opponents would be going out on a limb somewhat to knock him for the investigation, Jewett said.

Gillum also hasn’t polled consistently well enough to warrant attacks from his Democratic opponents, Jewett noted.

But if Gillum were to secure the nomination, it’s extremely unlikely that his Republican general election opponent would hold his fire, said Florida State University political science professor Carol Weissert in an email to the Tampa Bay Times.

“Floridians—or really any voters—don’t want to put a ‘tainted’ candidate in office,” Weissert wrote. “Gillum isn’t well-known among voters which means he doesn’t have a reservoir of goodwill to draw down on against tough corruption allegations.” //

Thanks for finding & posting that link & excerpt.

A dispassionate part of myself says “Let’s see how this plays out, pass the popcorn, please.” The rest of me warns “Get ready for hell to be unleashed on the state in the meantime.” (see above post)

I’m sure reaction depends on whether one lives in an increasingly, unabashedly liberal urban area or in conservative area.

We will need every conservative vote we can get - hearts & minds.

>>So what’s a “progressive” democrat?

Basically the same as a Progressive Republican—a Marxist who is using the appearance of a two-party system to give the voter a choice of which end of the turd they want to hold.

Chavez reborn. Venezuelans have left their country to the tune of over 2 million in the last four years according to NPR. What caused the problems in Venezuela? Why are the people leaving instead of repairing the damage for which they voted? And, then someone want to promote Gillum? Really?
