A Mexican official told CNBC on Monday that trade talks with the U.S. have wrapped up, adding that an announcement could come later in the day.
Officials were in Washington trying to hammer out the details as the Trump administration pushes to remake the 1994 agreement between the U.S., Mexico and Canada. There was some hope that a new NAFTA could be solidified before Mexicos government turnover on December 1.
The comment from the Mexican official comes just a day after Mexican Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo said the two sides were likely hours away from reaching a deal. Weve continued making progress, Guajardo told reporters.
President Donald Trump later tweeted that a deal with Mexico was looking good.

WINNING!!!!!!!!!!
Wonder if we got a wall deal?
Yes Mr President !
Mexico WILL pay for the wall.
WINNING!
btt
Can hardly wait for the Mexican El Presidente’s spin.
I am guessing it will be very Chuck Schumeresque.
Excellent.
Next, China.
Uh oh. That likely means little Justin is up next. Lol - this should be fun to watch. He’ll have to put all of his silly little girly social issues to the side, as the adults will tell him right from the get-go that gender bender crap has nothing to do with trade.

Mexico is not sending us engineers and doctors, they send us under-educated, minimum skilled workers and welfare recipients.
Bwahahahaaaahaaaa
I can just now picture the face on Canadian’s PM Zoolander ...
“Mexico WILL pay for the wall.”
I doubt that happened in this negotiation, but if it did it would mean the demise of the Democrat party.
Can you imagine the leftist outrage if the new NAFTA was continuously funding the building of a wall on the Mexican side of the border?
America offers safety in a low cost package(for them).
