Queens, New York – On July 9, 2018, two years to the day after abortionist Robert Rho killed Jaime Lee Morales during a horrifically botched abortion, Rho surrendered into the custody of the Downstate Correctional Facility, a maximum security state prison in Fishkill, New York.
Morales died on July 9, 2016, after Rho conducted a fatal second-trimester abortion on her at his now-shuttered Liberty Women’s Health Care in Flushing. During the abortion, which he attempted in one day instead of the recommended two days, he inflicted serious internal injuries, including a lacerated cervix, perforated uterus and nicked uterine artery. After Rho failed to control her hemorrhaging, he stitched her cervix closed to conceal the internal bleeding then released her. Morales succumbed to her injuries just hours later.
Rho was arrested in October 2016, and charged with Felony Second Degree Manslaughter that carried a prison sentence of up to 15 years. He later voluntarily surrendered his medical license.
Near the end of his trial in April 2018, which was covered first by Operation Rescue, Rho suddenly took a plea deal that reduced his charge to Felony Negligent Homicide. He was sentenced on June 27, 2018, to 16 months to four years in prison and was allowed to remain free for nearly three weeks prior to surrendering into custody.
According to information on the New York State Department of Corrections website, the earliest date that Rho could be released is October 25, 2019. Should the parole board not release him on that date, his next possible date of release would be February 25, 2021. This would take into consideration “good time” and other variables.
Should Rho be required to serve his maximum sentence, he would finally be released from prison on June 25, 2022.
“Sixteen months is too little time to serve for butchering a woman then attempting to hide her injuries,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.
During his trial, the prosecution described Rho as greedy and arrogant. Courtroom witnesses told Operation Rescue that during pleading, he lacked remorse and had to be prodded into actually admitting any responsibility for Morales’ death.
“We hope he stays incarcerated for his entire sentence and pray he learns humility and finds repentance,” said Newman. “He should just be thankful that he has a life to return to after his incarceration. That’s more than Jaime Morales got.”

Every time I hear someone talking about separating at the border illegal immigrant mothers from their children for a short period of time, the image of a viable baby in an abortion or late term abortion comes to my mind. The viable baby is taken from its mother and killed or left to die. The one is a tragedy and does not represent the United States, while the other is celebrated.
You may understand, however, if I write to Mr. Rho and encourage him to drink a big ol' Drano martini...
