The great engine of American capitalism is once again firing on all cylinders, as shown by the 4.1 percent annualized growth of Americas gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter of this year.
Most Americans (with the exception of Democrats in Congress) are celebrating the good economic news. There is quiet rejoicing in many European and Asian capitals as well, since their mostly sluggish economies will now be drawn along in Americas powerful wake.
But there is one capital where the American economic renaissance is definitely not welcome news. Consternation reigns in China, where President Xi Jinping is nervously watching his China Dream of dominating the United States go up in smoke.
You see, surprising though it may sound, Americas economy may now be growing at a faster clip than Chinas. And this changes everything.
Until recently, the Chinese economic juggernaut seemed unstoppable. Once China joined the World Trade Organization in 2001, its GDP exploded. Unfettered access to American markets combined with predatory trade practices allowed China to grow an economy only one-tenth the size of Americas to one nearly two-thirds as large....

Trump has introduced the Apprenticeship Program which many corporations are supporting. Great move.
I think the salient point you are making is we still have a long long way to go. Trump is doing something at least, that no one, not even Reagan did, to confront China.
And yes, the entire establishment are sold out to the ChiComs.
I don’t think he has really done anything yet.
That is my point. He has talked a good game. He is drawing attention to our massive trade imbalance.
But no, I really don’t see where he is doing anything yet. I agree everyone is sold out. But he isn’t really changing things yet.
Our trade imbalance with China is the worst, in the history of the entire world.
Right now.
This month. Not improving yet. Not at all.
I strongly agree that Trump is the first guy, who is saying the right things, and making the right moves.
Except with China. China is walking all over us at the moment.
Terribly.
China wasn't "allowed" to grow in an indigenous sense. OTC we gave them(off shored) an industrial economy on a silver platter at the expanse of US industry.
Businesses Media is incompetent and corrupt.
It’s my opinion that no other country treats its average citizens worse that we do in the USA.
All trade deficits are bad for US workers; All.
I don’t think cba123 is saying anything negative. He want MORE action! As do I.
That doesnt answer my question. Either the Chinese economy is doing better that the economy of the United States, or it isnt. You seem to choose the trade imbalance as the sole metric of that determination. So I want to understand you, and not put words in your mouth, so to speak.
Apprentice schools are good for learning a trade. Yes, one still needs to work in his/her trade before going out on their own. Plumbers make a very good income.
Every dollar of trade deficit represents about 10 cents in lost wages for US citizens. It's a lot of money.
So youre answer is yes, the only metric is balance of trade and the Chinese economy is stronger than the that of the US.
